4 RepliesFun fact: Minimum wage in Denmark is $15 an hour, but a Big Mac only costs around 50 cents more Source: http://www.economist.com/content/big-mac-index

Working for green paper that derives it's value from ignorance. Priceless.

I say give the guy putting my burger together in 15s without spit 15$ the rest can go stand and lean against the counter for like 7$.

3 RepliesI think there was a great article in the Washington free beacon that explained why a burger flipper isn't worth 15 bucks an hour.

20 RepliesPeople often forget that we can't all be entrepreneurs, IT specialists, doctors, and athletes; toilet scrubbers and ditch diggers (and in this case, burger flippers) still gotta make a living too.

13 RepliesThe poor struggling CEOs who earn 774x more (on average) than their employees can't afford to pay their workers a little more, guys. Come on guys, why do you hate the rich so much?
-
7 RepliesIf minimum wage kept up with inflation it would be even higher. Our dollar has less spending power than it did in the 60s.
-
4 RepliesThis fn government will up min. wage. The these places will employ less workers. Why? Cuz CEO GUY isn't gonna lose his bonus. Jackass politicians need to make a law where management can't make more then 75 times their cheapest employee. Then corporate can only make 75 times the amount of cheapest manager.

2 RepliesStarting to notice prices creeping up to keep the profit margin there. Breakfast burritos went from a dollar to $1.29 since last week. Don't recall hearing that on the news....

8 RepliesService jobs are replacing factory jobs as the new norm in this country. Either we accept that and pay these people a live able wage or we create a permanent underclass who are living off government assistance. Those are our two options. We need to stop fighting our fellow workers while giving the top 1% a pass in this country.

3 RepliesI swear if that shit happened in my state Id be quitting my job.

1 ReplyI agree that someone needs to work those shitty jobs cause someone has to do it. I don't really mind them getting a pay raise either, however what does kinda gets me is a lot of times those positions are filled with ex cons and teens who dropped out of high school. I don't think a person who dropped out of high school deserves a higher pay than someone who stayed in it. What they can do is pay higher to those who haven't -blam!-ed up their lives and less to those who did. After so many years of working there they will earn the higher pay.

2 RepliesMinimum wage should be about 15 dollars an hour so no I'm not ticked off by this. I've worked fast food and I know how much it sucks. Plenty of fast food workers work harder than hedge fund managers or most corporate executives.

Idc McD sucks anyway

8 RepliesIt's all good that someone works on an unsustainable wage so long as your burgers is 15¢ cheaper, right?
-
2 RepliesI agree. Fast food is there as a stepping stone to get through high school and college. It's not there to be a career. Do a real job and then complain about pay. I was assembling and inflating 1000-1500 tires/wheels a day for $15/h in a factory. Someone at McDonald's who puts a burger on a grill, selects what size the burger is, and then presses a button for the grill to autoc cook the burger for them doesn't deserve $10/h. I used to work there so I know how it is.

$15 an hour is too much for most/all parts of this county. To get people above the poverty line in most states it would look more like $12/hr. We do need the min. wage to go up though to keep up with inflation. The min. wage is supposed to keep you off of or right at the poverty line meaning you shouldn't need much if any government assistance. Plus you may be able to pay more taxes. That's a double win for the state revenue and thus we could lower taxes on businesses to help them keep prices low. The bottom line is that the tax payer shouldn't be subsidizing businesses that refuse to pay their workers enough to live off of. Your businesses model isn't sustainable if the only way for it to survive is to not pay your workers a living wage.

4 RepliesHere's how it goes: Minimum wage goes up to 15 dollars. Most of the people protesting for it get laid off. Soon, prices go up as a result. Now, a lot of people will say that all non-minimum wage jobs will pay more, since it's ridiculous that a burger-flipper makes the same amount of money as a cop. They'd be right. But don't you see what happens? Everybody makes more money, and everything costs more. We're right back where we started.
And the government keeps printing money fast as it can...
5 RepliesWith the advancement of technologies, Machines will soon replace the workers to allow companies to stay in line or increase profits by cutting down labor costs Causing an increase in unemployment. Some McDonald's already have their own kiosks that guest can order their meals from. $15 minimum wage is bad for the economy in all aspects.

14 RepliesEdited by Britton: 4/24/2015 5:11:42 AMIt pisses me off because I only made $12 dollars an hour as a wildland firefighter. And these whiny bitches want $15 to flip a -blam!-ing burger.

1 ReplyEdited by Sonic Roctopus: 4/24/2015 8:47:51 AMIf that happens then teacher and adults will no longer be saying "try hard in school or you're gonna end up working at McDonald's" haha. &15 an hour is pretty good for a job for college kids and part timers. One of my econ professors used to hand out McDonald's applications if you failed a midterm.
