I've seen speculation here and there but nothing definitive. It would be nice if bungie would hint that there is or isn't. Not tell us what they do but let us know if there's something. If there isn't, what a missed opportunity for so many odd and wonderful moments in the game, of which I have seen none.
Instead of this game being "There is more than meets the eye going on here my fellow guardians"
It's more like, "What you see, is what you get."
PS: I only have warlocks, so I guess the same holds for Titan and Hunter class armors as well.
Can someone at Bungie confirm this one way of the other, DeeJ or a Dev... Anyone???

2 RepliesIf I recall story wise the bonds are supposed to actually suppress the warlocks powers and keep them from being consumed by them. At the same time if I recall because of this they actually also act as a kind of conduit for their powers. I think I found this while reading some of the flavor text on one of them. Other then that they don't do anything perk wise.

2 RepliesIt would be neat if you could design your own Mark/Bond/Cloak. For the Mark, at least, is described as a list of lineage or deeds, yet you can only use pre-made Marks. My Mark should be my own, as should a Bond or Cloak.

1 ReplyMy warlock loves to be bound.

1 ReplyNo, they don't but the speaker ones do change color from time to time

5 RepliesEdited by Hylebos: 4/21/2015 2:00:21 AMI'm not a Bungie Employee, but aside from the Dead Orbit, New Monarchy, and Future War Cult class items which redirect the reputation that you would have earned for the Crucible / Vanguard towards your faction of choice, class items have no functional impact on gameplay. Personally as a player, I don't feel that there's much to be gained by putting abilities on class items; I greatly value that I can choose whatever class item looks nice on my Guardian without having to sacrifice stats for fashion. Any ability that would work well on a class item would work equally well on any other piece of armor, so for the present I don't feel Destiny is losing too much from keeping them non-functional.

Nope nothing at all.

3 RepliesSome sparkle like glitter others look like flames some actually give off their own lazer light show...but other than that they are worthless

2 RepliesThey should have perks but they don't.

1 ReplyOther than be the one customizable thing players can see, no. Personally I like to believe the story behind Class armor as the Conduit which your guardian channel's the Traveler's light into their specific class Powers. Kind of like the Circuit breaker in your House, the power company provides the power (for a fee), and your Breaker box (class armor) divvies the power up to the various Outlet's/Electronic Devices in your house (or Guardian powers/abilities). At least thats my take on them, and probably the (Missing) Story of them that got cut in the final moment of production. But I feel they should have perks geared for your Class abilities (which many Helmet's do currently), in addition to Rep bonuses.

1 ReplyEdited by JediMindFrak: 4/20/2015 7:15:48 PMNo. It's one of many places in the game you can readily observe where they obviously were going to do something with it, but pulled it out for whatever reason ($$$$$). Other examples include legendary ships and the completely empty reef area on the map.

1 ReplyClass items are at this point in time (and for the foreseeable future) purely cosmetic. With the exception of the faction items, which change your reputation gained into reputation for that faction, and the iron banner items, that give an extra percentage of iron banner reputation whenever you earn iron banner rep.

3 RepliesNo more than most hunter cloaks or titan marks. However there are some datamining sources that confirm exotic varieties that do the same as NM, FWC and DO varieties (give rep to each faction)
