Unable to purchase anything from Xur.
Ok, so today I get on destiny and I go find Xur, and everything is unable to be purschased. It says I'm lacking exotic shards. But the other thing it requires is the item itself. In order to buy the suros regime auto rifle, I have to have it ALREADY. Why? How is that possible? I want exotic gear. I'm only 8 levels away from max and my guns and armor is all common/uncommon/rare. I need exotic or legendary stuff. Help please!

The 4 exotic items in the top row (5 if their is an engram) are what's available for purchase. Upgrading an exotic via Xur is used to upgrade pre dlc exotics which had a maximum attack rating of 300 or light rating of 30 to the MK.2 Version which can be maxed out at 331 Attack rating or 36 light. Upgrading an Exotic via Xur clears it's upgrade tree progress. It will not affect stats such as rate of fire and impact, it will also not max out the upgrade tree.
