Thorn IS op.
Before I get a bunch of op is fgt let me explain something. I use thorn a good bit and I realize it's weakness and strong points.The only thing that I think thorn should be nerfed on is fire rate. This would make thorn definitely still a threat but just a little more time between each shot would allow for some countering.
I know that a gun like this does take skill believe me but the time to kill on thorn is faster than most guns.
Edit:I would like to thank the people who were nice and agreed with me or didn't. I just wanted people's opinion on my idea and I got mixed reviews about it,but I stand by it please debate further and I will too.
Everyone who says that I need to get better or change my style just know I came to this conclusion by using thorn weeks on end and I think it's a valid nerf

OP is a a selfish person, all people who have the Thorn but want it nerfed don't care about the vast majority of players who don't have it. If you are tired of it don't ask for it to be nerfed use something else.

2 RepliesOk let me say something, I understand what you are saying BUT if you lowered the fire rate I believe it wouldn't be powerful enough. Thorn and The Last Word are regarded so highly in crucible because they are not overpowered, but balanced correctly. If other guns weren't nerfed so hard (auto rifles) I don't think everybody would be complaining so much. It's not hand cannons they need to fix, they just need to buff other weapons, aside from pulse rifles of course. [spoiler]I do realize how that made pretty much no sense I just didn't know how to put it so please don't be too meanXD[/spoiler]

I don't even know what to say . The thorn needs a slight Nerf, nothing to much so it doesn't become bad. Lastly AR need a HUGE buff .

2 RepliesThis is what happens when a dev nerfs things and doesn't think about the consequences. Auto rifle nerf made hand cannons that much better and took away a natural counter to them. Or maybe it was intended.... I remember when Thorn sucked.

3 RepliesAny alterations to exotic weapons need to be done with care. Pocket Infinity has never behaved right, Vex has been messed with too many times (regardless of outcome) etc. Thorn is an exotic weapon that requires the owner to go through a lengthy bounty that isn't possible for all. Getting an OP weapon seems like a fair reward. So if there are future modifications make them with care so as not to invalidate the effort to get it.

6 RepliesThey already reduced amount of time the poison effect lasts so shields regen faster. The fire rate is pretty fast and the only time I find it's pretty bad is with 2 head shots. Sometimes this happens so fast you didn't even know you got hit once. Personally I'm fine with thorn as is. The problem I have with it is how menacing / distracting the dot is. I think that could be toned down a bit. I also wouldn't oppose to a slight reduction in fire rate. However, there are guns that need more attention then thorn. We're talking about some fine tuned tweaking with thorn. There are weapons out there that can't even compete anymore in a skilled lobby. I'm talking about auto rifles in general and some pulses that are two shotting almost as fast as tlw from a distance way further away. I feel weapons in general should be balanced out more before we go tweaking something that bungie has claimed on multiple occasions that works as intended. The more were tweaking weapons the faster the ttk's are getting for some of the best weapons in the game and the slower they're getting for weaponry falling out of top tier. Let's try and align the ttk's up. I'd rather have them a little longer then too short, and imo were getting into some areas where ttk's are really short with some choice weaponry.

8 RepliesThe weapon itself is balanced. And then the exotic poison perk suddenly makes it a crutch weapon. I die more by the poison than the actual weapon. This is coming from a constant hand cannon user in the crucible, I don't use anything else and I agree that both TLW and Thorn are both major crutch weapons. Thorn has its poison so that if you can't kill him, the poison will. And TLW's exotic perk triggers even while aiming down sight and does 101-111 to the head (aka half of your guardian's health). I think taking the DoT damage on the thorn and not letting it be able to kill you with be a healthy way to balance the weapon.

Thorn is only OP because the constant nerfs to weapons shifted the meta game towards hand cannons and Thorn (and TLW) are the best amongst them. Really Bungie should either stop screwing with the meta game so much.

Its an EXOTIC handcannon and a BOUNTY weapon, it is supposed to be one of the game's most powerful weapons. Thorn isn't OP. You just need to FIGHT IT differently than other weapons...and too many people are just too stubborn to accept that fact.

1 ReplyThe nerfs need to stop, Thorn is fine, it's the auto rifles which need [u]buffing[/u] back to being useful. Very sad to have a whole category of weapons which just aren't viable these days. Bottom line is anyone using a Suros in a 1 on 1 against Thorn/TLW/Hawkawesome will get melted every time.
