Sounds like a good idea. Would they already have two people or be able to hire 2 mercs? Or would it just be you and the "client" so to speak. And that would be quite expensive to get a couple ascendant energies(because nightfalls are always SO rewarding) if the 5000 glimmer came from the player and not the bounty robot or whatever. Also, I'd hope there wouldn't be a penalty if they had to leave before completion. Emergencies/girlfriends moodiness happens after all. Anyway, great way for helpful people to have another outlet to help while also being rewarded

  • I was thinking it would just be one "merc" to one "customer" for two reasons. One, it would cut down on matchmaking times and two, it would prevent mercs from just going afk and getting carried by another merc. I think 5000 glimmer is reasonable because glimmer is super easy to come by but I don't have a super strong opinion on the payment so maybe less would be better. And the huge rep reward and nightfall bonus warrant the payment even without the item rewards IMO. What is the penalty you reference for someone leaving? Do you mean if the merc leaves or the buyer?

Also, could said mercs just go to the counter, leave their permission to be recruited, and then leave to do patrols and wait to be "summoned" at any moment? That way 2 mercs could pair up and matchmaking would not be affected. The leader of their 2-man fire team would just get a message saying "soandso needs assistance with the weekly nightfall strike? Do you want to accept or pass this message to the next merc in line?"

  • Yes!! that would be great. Someone else mentioned possibly being able to wander the tower if the wait time is substantial. Ideally your idea would be a reality but I think it would probably come down to what is possible for them to implement with the matchmaking system that is already in place. If they could do what you described I would be all for it. That would totally remove the problem of having to wait at the vendor for a partner.

  • The idea's becoming more refined. By the way I'm relatively new to forums, but how do I "bump" a post? Is it the little star button? Because I would like for more people to see this post

  • Hey thanks :) and you bump just by posting a comment on the post like you did. If you don't have anything in specific that you want to say people just write "bump" and it generates higher visibility by the post receiving more comments. If you look through the comments on this post you can see a few people wrote "bump." Also you can upvote a post with the up arrow next to the poster's avatar and that helps too. Thanks again for the feedback, I am thinking about making a new post later on because there are a lot of great ideas and potential issues that people have brought up.

  • I thought I saw a mention of a penalty for the buyer going afk in a version of your post before it's more recent edit. But if the buyer(or merc really) had to leave before completion would that count against both the buyer and the merc? Because I'm sure the merc wouldn't want to take the time to complete it by himself and the buyer would be SOL and have to try again. I guess I'm just saying if they flat out leave instead of going afk, would either party be penalized?

  • I think that if the merc leaves it should count as a failure for the merc and if they have 2 failures in a week then they are booted for the week. If the buyer leaves I think that the merc should be allowed to finish it alone and receive the rep bonus for completing it. I would definitely finish it off for rep. It would be like ROC strikes on steroids One person leaving shouldn't penalize the other person though IMO.
