House of Wolves has no raid
After looking at the home page and clicking on one of the twitch announcements, I read through what Bungie will be doing over the next month, which is revealing The Reef, Trails of Osiris and The Arena.
The thing that caught my eye however was the fact that they stated there will be NO RAID in the House of Wolves expansion, and instead they will be focusing on a three-player multiplayer activity called The Arena, located in The Prison of Elders. Not much of The Arena has been said so far, except that it will focus on "Variety, Replayability and Skill".
In my opinion I think this is a step in the right direction. Having to do three raids in one week will be too much for a lot of people, and a new activity that will (hopefully) add replayability, which is what Destiny needs right now.
I would like to get other people's opinions on this. Do you think not having a new raid is a good thing? What do you think about The Arena?

2 RepliesThey said they are working on a raid that will come out later in the year. (I assume with commit) I think what they had before was just not up to par on what they really wanted to release to the public. Instead of handing us a big old pile of dog crap, they decided to reformat the end game. This is just a trail to see if this kind of set up works, and if it does they will continue making these "arenas" along side of the epic raid that will come out.

5 RepliesThis game has been a hack job from the start. They are "working on" and adding features that should have been in the initial release. No raid in HoW says to me they didn't milk the money they wanted... So take out the raid that was probably already there from the start and charge players 3x for access.

If it can deliver what it promises "variety and re playability" than that will be awesome, i love raiding but your going through the motions, you know whats coming next, you know how to react to that. If they can mix it up a bit more and add more challenging enemies with better AI then its gonna be a winner. Everyone needs to keep an open mind and make their decision on 19 may.

Destiny is already such a repetitive game that a new raid is all my play group and i have been waiting for. Ok, so you made a new horde mode, tell me how is that is going to fix the repetitive problem in Destiny. Vault of Glass is pretty much pointless unless you still need a vex or faitbringer so its not like you will need to be running three raids a week with each character especially with the new raise in levels and new armor. I for one am questioning whether or not i will be buying this expansion and that is hard to say since i have been playing since the release. I just feel that getting all of my characters to lvl 32 is almost pointless now without a new raid to play them in.

No raid... for god knows how long, no assurance the raid won't cost extra, a new 3 player co-op... something, PvP something... Colour me unimpressed. If they wanted to generate buzz, well, mission accomplished. If they wanted to create positive buzz, hahahah... EPIC. F U C K I N G. FAILURE!!!! I feel bad for them. Damned if they do. Royally -blam!-ed if they don't. They brought this on themselves though. I'm gonna need a comfy armchair and some popcorn for the next couple of weeks.

I think its garbage. Ive been waiting and waiting for this dlc and ts new raid. Im not a huge pvp person I lve all of the pvp elements that destiny offers an they take the easy way out from programming and creative thinking by not doing a raid because they are afraid we will tear it apart again. If there is no raid then why oh why is it taking so long to launch. I didn't mind the long wait because I thought they were taking there time to get things right and make a bugless new raid but now they are just wasting OUR time.

I'm excited to see what sorts of new mechanics and challenges this "arena" will offer. Also, it's extremely hard for me to get a six man team together for a raid, but I can get a three-man team together fairly easily! Can't wait!

Why would we even do CE if we have all of the gear? No more gains from it after a certain point. We would probably still just be doing two raids, reef raid, and VoG.

1 ReplyI don't think it is a step in the right directions. I don't play the VOG Raid anymore because the gear didn't really matter much. I really started to play crota raids a lot using the message board which allowed me to meet a lot of cool gamers out there every week. I feel the fact that they are getting rid of the Raid in this next DLC it will be my last DLC I purchase for Destiny. If I didn't get the season pass i probably wouldn't of got it without a RAID. I have a handful of friends who have already given up on Destiny because of the same thing over and over. I agree that the Arena itself is the step in the right directions but with the Raid you at least have the chance of doing different tactics each week and with the message boards the experience I feel is different as well because everyone does their own twists to the raid. I am hoping that Bungie will create the Raid that was suppose to be in the DLC House of Wolves and give it as a free download to their players when it is done. Bungie may show they care about their fan base for Destiny but Activision has only showed they care about the Money which means this won't happen if Activision has a say in the matter. I have almost a 1000 hours into this game, I will probably put more hours into it with this next DLC till I complete the missions and upgrade the gear/guns I get from it but Bungie would need to do something pretty spectacular to get me to put more time into the game after "House of Wolves" or I may be joining the handful of friends who already traded their Destiny games in for another game (I already have two that I have yet played waiting for me on my xbox one) worth putting hours and hours of their time into. Time will only tell!

I dont care that there is no raid really, whats annoying is the false advertising. i paid for the expansion pack because it was advestised as new raid content. now there is no raid content. Comet will be released in September and we will be charged for that expansion pack too. disapointing dick move bungie.

There's not enough to do... Period. They needed another raid to add variety. While I find crucible fun and competitive, that only goes so far. I need more incentive than more of the same.
