Pros and Cons of No Raid With the HoW expansion
THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE NEW VENDORS, MISSIONS, STRIKES OR ANYTHING ELSE.
THIS IS SOLELY ABOUT THE PROS AND CONS OF NO RAID BEING INCLUDED IN HoW. WE WILL GET A RAID LATER IN THE YEAR.
Pros:
365 Fatebringer & Other Legendaries Upgraded*
More time to fix other glitches (they won't have to worry about patching new raid)
*If these upgrades include previous raid gear, then we will be able to upgrade Armor from VoG
Less Elitism: We won't see any "you need Gjally to join my HoW raid team" because there simply will be no raid.
The Arena: Could maybe be better than a raid.
Shorter gap between the Comet Raid.
We will get a raid it will just be later*
When new raid is released eventually, it won't be rushed, like CE

Let's look at TDB. We got 2 new strikes, new missions, a new Vendor, new weapons and a Raid. Now imagine if we got all this and Horde mode (or whatever The Arena is going to be). Think about if we got both a Raid AND the Arena. If they are releasing a Raid later than we know it's in development or finished. They could've easily bundled a Raid with HoW. This is good if you want more content, but also bad because it would probably be unrefined. The debate here is quality or quantity.
*Raid will probably be bundled separately, which means we have to pay more money.
This is just a brief list, I'm sure there are [b]many[/b] more Pros and Cons, discuss.

There will still be raids. It's likely that VoG and CE hard mode will be changed to level 33, dropping the better versions of the guns

1 ReplyI'm really hopeful that there will be a horde mode - its something different especially at a time where things are pretty stale - eg Tuesday comes and its time to do Nightfall, Weekly then both raids - a new type of game mode would be a nice change. I've always been pretty supportive of Bungie with regards to their strategies however I will be extremely disappointed if the new raid comes with another $20 price tag especially after I and many other purchased the DLC packs well in advance with an expectation of a new raid each time.

I'm pretty happy with how they've set it up. Take their time to get it settled out, so that we get another VOG, not another CE.

I think the New arena idea is pretty cool, better than a raid? Not sure if it will be but only time will tell. I'm just wondering how you get the new gear? And if we have to grind to upgrade vog weapons and exotics? I'll be very disappointed if I have to upgrade gally and re level it all over again.

I stopped playing 3 weeks ago, and I couldn't be any happier. This game, or rather what it has become, is a money sinkhole. HoW was in my mind the dlc that was gonna bring back my spark for this game. MAN did bungievision sure kick my balls in with the "no raid". After PvP got stupid with the lag and weapon nerfing and rebalancing bullshit, these developers are honestly going to sit there and tell us "this decison didn't come lightly but no raids lol ;)". No. That's wrong, how many damn months and now you tell your community? To those thay bought the season pass and was looking forward to another glorious 6 man raid, I feel for you. To those that didn't, good shit.

If the new "guard dinklebot while he opens the door" is less than 300yd^2 I'm going to be really disappointed. Being stuck in one or two cluttered rooms will get old quickly.

If my weapons such as Fatebringer get bumped to 365 (or we have to get new ones to drop), I'd like to see my Vex upgrade as well. I agree that another raid "later this year" will likely cost more, but those details remain to be seen: is the next raid part of comet, or in addition to comet? Time will tell. The horde mode/arena could be fun, but it seems to me like it would get old pretty quickly, but drops could help with that. Am I disappointed? Yes, I am. It took me quite a while to find a group I raid with regularly, now the best we have is any combination of 3 out of 6 playing arena, or the same raids still. Will I quit, or threaten to? Absolutely not, I've already paid for HoW & I'm looking forward to comet as well.

7 RepliesI cant say less content, think about an entirely new social space what doors it can open! Think about all of theoppurtunities for more story to be added to the lacklustre one we have now, the reef is, afterall the "space" between the darkness and the tower. All the new bounties added, the vendors, the gear and the possible replayability of the arena or PoE. To me it's all extremely exciting.

Just because a mission isn't specifically labeled "RAID" doesn't mean it can't be a fun, challenging co op mode with some cool rewards. I will reserve judgement until more info is announced. People are too caught up in it not being specifically a "raid" that they forget other things can be fun too.
