Looks like you whiners did it again. It was already bad when they made it so that Heavy Ammo disappeared for good when you kill the person's carrier. The constant swapping of Heavy Ammo from person to person, team to team until it was gradually used up provided a neat dynamic. But now your constant whining about shotguns has sucked even more variety out of the already repetitive PvP and made it even harder to complete even more Crucible Bounties. Good luck getting those BuckShot Bruiser and Master Blaster medals without camping by ammo spawns. As well, it gives Defender Titans even more power to hold objectives with Ward of Dawn, since by the time that Super comes out, who's going to have enough shotgun ammo to be able to wade in there and kill the guy?
What's next? What are you going to complain about now to dumb down PvP even further until it's just CoD with Space Magic, everyone using the same 4 kinds of primary weapons until they get to use their Super?

2 RepliesSpoken like a true shotty noob. Are you crying because running around the map with a shotty is the only strategy you can come up with?

This is ridiculous. Why do people have to whine like little Bi***s and have them ruin the game with this Special ammo nerf. Just play the damn game and stop whining if every little thing doesn't go your way. Your either better a shotgun or a rifle or hand cannon it doesn't matter but you shouldn't go whining and changing the dynamics of the game like that. As for me I used a Fusion Rifle the whole time to crap on all you whiners. Its not like its easy to get kills with the Fusion Rifle, you have to be good with it, strategize and time the shot, same with shotguns and snipers. Takes more SKILL to use those special weapons than an Auto Rifle and Primaries in general. Now you have made the people with the last word and the thorn even more powerful so they have the ammo to run around with the whole time. I didn't enjoy people with shotguns the whole tie either because I used Fusion Rifle and if I missed first shot I was dead, but I didn't whine about it. Just learned to play better and account for the person to have a shotgun. You shouldn't change the game for all other players. BS.You have COMPLETELY ruined the game in my opinion. The changes were definitely detrimental to the dynamics of crucible. What made it fun was the in your face action the whole time. Now that the whiners have their way, and apparently will always get their way as Bungie has shown, the game is officially on its death road. Crucible was the last thing left that I played that was fun about the game and now that is gone too. *****WHAT ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO PLAYED YOUR GAME, ENJOYED IT AND DIDN'T COMLPAIN ABOUT EVERY LITTLE THING BUNGIE*****. As for me, I used to defend this game to people that said it wasn't a good game, but sadly I am no longer gonna Destiny because it actually sucks now. P.S. WHINERS: Lets see how much fun you have playing now. Once you suck enough to whine to developers, always you suck.

2 RepliesRunning a shotgun as a primary to be an aggressive flanking rusher, or crouching camper has become ridiculously prevalent to the point it's annoying for everyone, even veteran players to the crucible such as myself. I hate maps like Asylum or the Anomaly because of this. It's funny how people who shotgun rush on Asylum or Anomaly do terribly on maps like Shores of Time, or The Burning Shrine on Mercury. It's because they must engage with their primary on those maps much more. In my opinion, people shouldn't be able to rush spawns and OHK 3-4 people before they have a chance to even get their bearings. I've been in fire teams with people running shotguns as a primary, and we literally have decimated the other unorganized team from one spawn to the next before they have a chance to form a strategy or even understand what just happened to them. This way of playing isn't fair to new players just trying to get the layout of the map and how the HUD works for them. The current flow of battle is way too in-your-face and aggressive and doesn't give time for people to actually exchange fire or blows with anyone. Leaving a bitter taste in the mouth of the OHK victim. To me, the point of the engagement is for there to be some sort of an exchange of fire, and see who has better aim and/or strafing skill. It's one reason I prefer my LDR sniper over any shotgun you hand me. I think the blink shotgunners are those who will suffer most with this special ammo reduction because they never bothered to use a strategy of aiming at people to get kills, only their ability to flank using map awareness. I understand that map awareness and getting the drop on people using your radar and cover is, in and of itself, a strategy. But, I simply don't have respect for people who run shotgun as their primary and just try and flank unsuspecting people who are in the midst of engaging other players with their primary. For example, in the bottlenecking area of B on either side of the Asylum on Venus, blinking shotgunners always like to take the underground stairway or the window area to jump through and one shot people who are engaging their team with their primary. Most of the time those people are in the midst of ADSing so it's no surprise when they are unaware of this rusher play to blink in and engage them up close with shotgun. Perhaps I could respect this type of play if done sometimes, but when people do this as their main game playing style it's downright annoying. Also people just respawn with more ammo if they die, so there is no risk in running this balls-out strategy. As long as they get two people before they die they can appear to be good players in the end-game stats. I personally, welcome this ammo change and hope it forces people to play more carefully with their engagements because this kamikaze unlimited ammo shotgun approach is annoying as hell.

3 RepliesI think the people with icebreakers and invective will simply eqiup them. Then of course the forum will light up like the 4th of July. Then those two exotics will promptly be nerfed into the ground. Just like the primary weapons, they haven't fixed anything. They simply traded one problem for another.

I think a nice mix would be only getting special ammo from kills using primary or heavy weapons... like juggler in pvp. Each pvp kill has a % chance of dropping ammo, of using special weapon it may drop primary ammo, if using primary it may drop special... you keep special ammo earned thru deaths, however everyone starts with 0. Still use shotguns and fusions/snipers in crucible... however you must earn the ammo to be able to by getting kills. You shouldn't be able yo run a shotgun thru the entire game. Personally I like the changes

To answer your last question.... Yes. That is obviously their goal. But hey, it's an Activision game so that should be expected at this rate.

3 RepliesLegit, -blam!-ing. Crucibabies need to shut up

1 ReplyI worried on the backlash that will happen when this happens. Better get used to perfect aimers with last word and thorn to rule the crucible. Way to undo the work to evening out the crucible.
-
Too bad they didn't try the special ammo nerf before the fusion nerf trying to fix the cries about fusion fests. At least they could still have been useful in PVE
-
They will never stop being the lil ladies they are, now that they efed special weapons they will move on to cry about every single primary that kills them, keep an eye for people crying over , red death, thorn and hawkmon.

Edited by cuzzybubba1: 4/13/2015 3:53:49 PMAt least half the people in a match literally run the map until they see someone and shotgun them. That's fine, but you should not have unlimited ammo for a back-up weapon and there is absolutely no argument to say otherwise there just isn't. A primary should be your main the majority of the game with your special being pulled out on instances where needed and heavy when it drops.. The reason behind people complaining that this is being changed is because they want their easy and lazy kills instead of having to aim and work for them. I don't mean this as an insult, but you die....A LOT. Your frustration really comes into play since you are really going to struggle with having less rounds to shotgun and fusion rifle your way through a match. I've never called for a nerf on a weapon but the ammo changes are needed for sure.

1 ReplyTo be completely honest, more people run around the crucible with shotguns and final round snipers than actual primaries. I see this decision as a good one so that people actually use their primaries, primarily over their secondaries. One comes first before the other. This change does in fact make special ammo more special and valuable so that a guy doesn't just decide to run into a room with a shotgun because he's fully loaded with ammo for it. This change again is better because it makes supers more valuable too. instead of spamming it as soon as you get it you might save it for when the heavy ammo comes around so you can wipe the entire opposing team.

People do complain too much about weapons they think are overpowered. Ever since Felwinter's Lie was released people have done nothing but complain and complain. I have it and have been killed by it; you don't see me complaining. The special ammo never bothered me either as I generally see people using special weapons where it would make sense to use them. The maps generally favor this. I don't care about heavy ammo except during IB because of the bounty specific to machine gun headshot kills. I mainly use my primary anyhow, so this isn't going to hurt me.
-
the purpose is to treat special weapon ammo like a partial power weapon. Felwinters has become a one weapon answer to all maps because you never run out of ammo and its perk combinations allow it to outgun most things since its time to kill is technically 0 seconds. they didnt say that special ammo was going to be heavy ammo, they just said there would be less of it which is fine because i seldom use up all 21 shots in a felwinters anyways. The concern is when it comes to snipers. Most of the maps are not completely friendly to snipers in terms of range anyways and now that they are going to get even less ammo per box than they already do, the motivation to use a sniper is gone. There was absolutely too much special ammo on the map, but that was only part of the problem. Their map design is the reason shotguns can be so dominant along with the fact that they allow for really dumb perk combinations on these shotguns. Like the vendor sells a secret handshake with hammer forged and shot package. They are not dumbing anything down, if anything they are forcing you to think tactically about your team's special ammo and who should be running shotgun and who should be sniping. Buckshot bruiser will still be easy even if they cut the amount of ammo you get in half since it takes 3 shots to get it and you get 10 shots currently with felwinters from a crate of ammo. Its not going to be like heavy ammo where it is spawning in every few minutes, they are still going to constantly spawn in.

It will stop people who just waste ammo into final round snipers.

6 RepliesI agree, crucible gets more generic with each patch.

This is a good thing believe it or not. Shotguns are a problem in PvP. No question there. Imagine people having the availability of shotguns all the time in halo? Everyone and their mother would use it. They're called special weapons for a reason. Let them be.
-
You sound like one of the noobs with no skill that run with a shotgun the whole match because you can't aim...I would be fine if they got rid of shotguns altogether.
-
You're forgetting that shotguns aren't the only special weapons, bro. They aren't doing it as an attack on shotguns, it's supposed to push the game toward using primary weapons, and letting the "special" weapons be used for special cases. It was never intending for people to use special weapons as primaries, including fusion rifles and snipers. People used to use FRs as their primary until the patch, and they've just migrated to shotguns since then. Most people just don't have the skill it takes to do well with a sniper, so they don't bother. It happened for the same reason that the 1.1.1 supernerf happened, they looked at stats and saw that too big of a portion of kills were from special weapons, so they're trying to fix it. Just because shotguns are your special weapon of choice, don't be selfish and act like people's complaining is ruining the game for you.

1 ReplyNote: We've been asking for changes to the way special ammo works in Crucible since before the game launched. Even though the two issue correlate it doesn't necessarily prove that shotgun balance is the cause. Our concern when advocating for changes to special ammo drops were based on the fact that people are able to use their powerful secondary weapons, be they fusion rifles, shotguns, or sniper rifles, as though they were primary weapons. This was an issue because it allowed you to exclusively use a powerful secondary weapon for the duration of the match. They're powerful tools, and we wanted them to seem that way. We want to have to think about how we use our resources in the Crucible, and this was a good change. I do agree that the slow use of heavy ammo over time was an interesting dynamic, and I know we didn't ask for any change in that regard. However, I will respect their decision and see what the future holds before I judge them too harshly. I know they want to change the pacing of the match, and we don't know how this will work in conjunction with the special ammo changes. Now that both types of ammo are more valuable I'm interested to see how the meta shifts accordingly. As for the Titans, I would like to see more Defenders in PvP using suppression grenades on Hunter supers anyway. But hey, that's just me. I dislike how irrelevant the Titan bubble is in the face of anyone using a shotgun so I'm alright with the change. Still, we don't know how rare special ammo will be exactly, so it may not prove to be as much of an issue as we think. I'll hold off until we know the specifics. As for you last comments, I only have on thing to say in response. Isn't this already CoD with space magic? They're certainly using the CoD formula, although this does have an actual skill gap based on the TTK and headshots.

I don't think crucible should be absolutely ruled by shotguns. They're also leveling out high powered weapons which I'm sure includes thorn and last word
-
1 ReplyIt will also make getting the thorn bounty done a lot harder seeing as people either use a void shotgun or void fusion rifle to get it done
-
Thanks to all Crucibles crying NERF non-stop this is the end result. Well Done. *clap* *clap**clap**....

Now if everyone started with zero secondary ammo and you lose all secondary with death, it would be perfect.
