I'm just about to start on Dark Souls 2 on the PS4 and I am wondering what is the best class to use? I would like to hear your opinions for best class

Cleric. Get that Faith and Strength build up as soon as possible.

Edited by Harbinger: 4/13/2015 6:58:01 AMIt's not so much a question of class, but build. Str/End/Vig with a greatsword and strong shield is what I would recommend for a first timer. The Bastard Sword is a pretty nice option that you can obtain fairly early.

4 RepliesDepends on what you want to play as. Dexterity, Strength, Faith, Sorcery? Maybe a balance? Or none of the above?

Any of them honestly the only impact they truly have is within the first couple hours of the game after that you have the souls to level whatever you want.
-
Deprived. If you don't know what you are doing, that is the way to go.

Sorcerer is a bit more difficult to level and can be difficult early game. But ultimately has easiest time with PVE and lots of options for how you play them. Cleric is gonna be like a mix of sorcerer and warrior, with a focus on melee and miracles. Good for PVE and coop. If you choose this go sun bro all the way. Knight is just another way to go warrior, and bandit/wanderer are both dex focus. Explorer and deprived are useless unless you wanna shoot for some crazy gimmick build.

Go for a quality build if it's your first time running through a souls game, quality is 40 str 40 dex.

Deprived is best because he/she starts with base stats, so can make any build you want and spec it however you want, and if you decide to respec, you will not have pointless stats, for ex, you choose knight, you start out as a strength build, but then later you think sorcery could be cool. So you respec, but then you have wasted points in strength, which you can't move to any other stat. This will never happen with deprived, you will always be able to do any build with him because when you respec you will have base stats. And getting gear isn't that hard anyway so starting with nothing isn't to big of a hit.

Starting class really doesn't matter but if this is your first souls game I recommend a strength build

Cleric or Sorcerer. Magic/Faith have always been broken since Demon's Souls.
-
Anything but deprived or explorer. I went knight

The class you pick in the beginning doesn't really impact the game at all since you can change it up many times throughout. I personally like to choose cleric because the mace they get is pretty good and they have healing spells.
-
Perhaps not best, but my fave was a Dex Pyro.

Pick whatever you want as there are ways to respec if you want to try something else, then you'd want something that's pretty even in stats
