Dont get me wrong. I love Destiny to bits. I just feel that there is a complete lack of good sustainable weapons. Every one and their dog has at least a gjally or truth or Hunger of Crota for example. There should be far more variety of launchers to choose from!
I mean take Xur, everyone moans or applauds him for selling the rarer exotics (suros, hard light etc) but he should sell exotic items that can only be found from him. Therefore making EVERY exotic found on VOG or Crota or elsewhere so damn exciting to find. Right now theres only 7 exotics xur hasnt or cant be sold or wont be sold again (i may be wrong), them being Gjally, thunderlord, vex, necrochasm, hawkmoon, monte carlo, 4th horseman.
Games like Borderlands, you can never really find the exact same gun twice without duplicating. Every weapon is that slightly bit different. With hundreds of base models to choose from.
Same applies with armour. (Aware that borderlands doesnt cover 'armour' loot) but Every level 32 looks the damn same. Thats so irritating. I just wish there were far more of a variety to choose from. After all. Tis an RPG
Putting things into perspective. Destiny was originally announced before borderlands 2 was announced. So the arguement that borderlands had much more time to create weapons is complete bs
Borderlands is only one example i could use. World of Warcraft also follows suit. Millions of players that actually look fairly different from eachother... everytime i walk into the Tower on Destiny i always see another 32 that guess what. Looks completely the same as me.
Ill say it again i love this game. But it hit me earlier. That you strive to beat crota on hard over and over again or grind the crucible. For what? To look exactly the same as the other 5 members of that raid group or practically everyone else experienced in the iron banner? Seems so.
The amount of people just boringly stating that xur sold gjally at week 2. Brilliant! When everyone was unaware of its capabilities. Alright i get it. Completely missing the point.
Lets be honest here guys. Destiny is only half what we expected it to be... just look at early E3 shows.

Go play borderlands then.

2 RepliesBooks have pages, not leaves. Thats all.
-
I had more fun trying to spawn a Varkid boss then I did playing destiny. Anyways who disagrees doesn't know the struggle.

Except just about everyone dupes in Borderlands. It is not uncommon for someone to open a room and drop all their gear for everyone to come in and grab. Borderlands is great, but not without its own set of issues.

1 ReplyAs a player who has recently completed Borderlands 2 and has started Vault Hunter Mode w/ friends, I will say with certainty that I prefer Destiny Loot over Borderlands loot. Borderlands loot feels like it's obsolete very quickly. The Very Rare Sniper I just picked up 2 minutes ago is now considered obsolete by a Green Pistol. The Very Rare ETech assault rifle is now rendered obsolete by a Rare SMG. There's so many guns that I can't keep track of them all, and all of them end up being sold at one point.

Edited by DjNormal: 4/13/2015 9:31:20 PMI hated the totally random nature of weapons in borderlands. It basically meant you had 6 trillion guns to choose from and you might find a handful of good combinations. Destiny shares that same issue with perks, but it's more likely that you'll get decent perks. Also, in WoW raiders all looked identical until they added transmogrification. There's a demotivational poster meme out there somewhere with a green tree sticking out in a field of purple. The wording on the HoW site concerns me. I know we all want this to be a MMOFPSRPG, but I'm starting to feel that it's just another installment shooter with a grindy gear system to keep non-PVP players hooked.

4 RepliesXur has sold the Gally once before on the second week of lunch.... Back went players truly didn't know it's value
-
Wow had the same problem until transmog. Everyone used too look the same
-
I agree hoping for more weapons:)
-
Borderlands is a overnight game and majority players hate killing cartoons
-
2 RepliesWant to correct you, Xur can't sell the bounty weapons as well. For example, Bad Juju, Invective, etc. Just noticed that and wanted to let you know
-
8 RepliesA leaf???
-
1 ReplyToo bad that there couldn't be weapons designated solely for PvP and then a much greater assortment for those of us that prefer variety and PvE.
-
I love both games but borderlands loot system is far superior.
-
Xur sold gjallarhorn, I bought it from him.
-
6 RepliesAgreed, Norfleet or Badaboom would destroy Gally. Plus the difficulty/drop for the Norfleet in BL2 fits it's value.
wub wub
1 ReplyWhat the hell is a leaf doing in the book.
-
5 RepliesEh, sure borderlands seems like it has a bunch of interesting, valuable loot, but when you get in to the real end game stuff 72+ only a couple of loadouts are viable. Pretty much everyone is gonna run shamfleet or beehawk/Harold. You can kinda say the same thing about Gjallarhorn, but the exotic restrictions mean loadouts have some variance.

Edited by ScotchEggsRules: 4/13/2015 2:01:35 PMThis is an original game and as with all first editions it's always a work in progress. The current Borderlands is, I believe, the third edition. They've had years to hone their game and a fine game it is too.

No thanks.

3 RepliesI've been replaying BL2 this weekend. They've just increased legendary drop rates so I've been picking them up like candy. BL2 does a lot of things very well, Destiny does a lot of things very well. BL2 has more variety but a brutal levelling system meaning end game can see you farming for weapons that drop 3 levels below you. That's frustrating. The shooting mechanics aren't as polished as they are in Destiny. I like the fact that in Destiny, once you've hit 20 your guns are good until the next DLC. Refarming in BL2 could be a real chore at times. I do like the variation in weapon parts though.

Games like borderland where you can never really find the same weapon twice
Bish please, borderlands on pc you can have an inventory editor and give yourself anything
-
The last thing I'd want is the garbage loot system from borderlands to be in destiny. I probably wouldn't even play anymore. Having to micromanage your inventory just so you can find a gun that does maybe 10 more damage and throw away the 50 other weapons just to find that one? No -blam!-ing thanks.
-
1 ReplyYou cant really farm a certain gun in this game though, you just have to do the weekly things and hope you get lucky
-
3 RepliesYou forgot weapon bounties. And borderlands has had a few years head start on destiny. Destiny is a very young franchise give it time. Rome wasn't built in a day.
-
6 RepliesEdited by achwassolls: 4/13/2015 8:01:53 AMlol, everyone who really was into borderlands 2 farmed untile they got the exact perfect gun and in the end we all had the same weapon. Because grip, stocks, barrels and attachment changed the weapon, you wanted to have the one specific version with the highest dps. andfor example: if we saw someone with a maliwan grip on a Torgue weapon, we used to make fun of it.
