Saddest Unscripted Deaths?

Usually when asked saddest deaths they're scripted events, and almost always the same person. I was wondering some unscripted deaths that have been sad, as that's more interesting to hear about. Mine was on Bioshock 2, and I warn you that spoilers do follow. I had a hacked/summoned Security Bot named Bubba. For some reason Bubba became my best friend, and I made sure to keep him alive. We got to the boss of the level (Dionysus Park, I think) and Bubba went missing halfway through the fight. Suddenly I went into rage mode, thinking they killed him, and I destroyed the boss, and his underlings easily, then began to mourn over my lost friend. Then he reappeared after the fight, only for us to learn that the Park was being flooded. I wasn't concerned about myself, being a Big Daddy and all, but Bubba (obviously) couldn't swim! So I started speeding to get out of the level, at one point yelling "We have to get out of here, Bubba can't swim!". We were almost out, when we reached a door, which began to leak, clearly about to explode water into the room. I yelled out: "Bubba, get out of here, ru-" when the door exploded, flooding everything, and killing Bubba. ;-; (p.s. Bubba was the first security bot I hacked on the level) Edit 1: I forgot to say, I then swore vengeance on Lamb, promising to kill her myself! Then I got the good ending, and my daughter let her live. Hmph.. I love you Eleanor, but replay that scene, and end your mother's life, she killed my Bubba! >:i

  • Those Marines that you practically babysit in order to keep alive, but let's face it. If you're given a Fuel Rod gun and you get killed, you probably shouldn't have joined the Military.

  • Every marine in halo 3. I would single out one, equip him with the best possible weapon, and make sure he/ she lived. Also what ign said.

  • Right in the beginning of the game I brought Mercedes, from Dragon's Dogma: DA, into some rag-tag cave. She attempts to make the same jump I do to a chest, and plummets to her death. No sorrow, she deserved it all. But it was entirely my fault.

      • Skyrim: My horse died a valiant death fighting three dragons and a dragon priest. I slaughtered all of them and mourned over my horse. I bought my horse really early on in the game and had named him Obama, for he was a chocolate brown. He had fought by my side for the whole game and was my favorite thing in the game.

          • 1. I thought I was the only one to get super PO'd when my favorite security bot "died" but got up a minute later. 2. The setting: Fire Emblem:Sacred Stones >my 17,000,000 run of the game >decided to not reset when my units died >all my flying troops got killed by stealthy archers >that wasn't why I was sad >it was a fog level >MLG Joshua the sword master is being BA >AnotherCrit.jpeg >His future wife is healing people on another flank >suddenly 29 Knights come out of nowhere >that entire flank is rolled over >she barely escapes >Joshua abandons position to rescue her >Joshua is holding off 29 Knights while carrying his injured wife >Garcia and Gilliam can't hold off the mages >Garcia dies >Gilliam goes ape sh*t because that was his BFF >Gilliam gets lit up >literally >Gilliam dies >Joshua is now holding two flanks solo >he still has his wife in one arm >A spear hits him in the leg >lightning strikes his face >he goes down being stabbed and burned from every direction >dies >drops his wife >they ruthlessly slaughter her >I cri evrytim

            • Anytime I lost a follower in a Fallout game, from the first game through New Vegas, I always tried to keep them alive. Often times, they'd just walk into something bad and get shredded... Typically I'd reload and try a different tactic, but time and time again, they'd walk into danger and end up a smear. Ultimately, I ended up playing most of the Fallout games solo because of that. Fawkes on the other hand was a beast and refused to die, even when he did die. Probably because he was part of a choice at the end.

              • Pretty sure that once you fully research security bots they get names when hacked. You could get your Bubba back! Anyway, I get terribly disappointed when I kill enemies lamely. This one time, in Dishonored, I was sneaking into the church place to whack the Grand High Super Overseer Campbell, and there were these two overseers facing each other below me. I was like "ok, gonna jump down and drop-sassinate the close one but while I'm falling, shoot the other one in the face with my crossbow." Perfect plan, except that I didn't realize that overseers' masks can block face shots. As I fell and noticed that xbow overseer had survived my pointed argument, I got distracted and forgot to swing at the other one. I landed hard, falling damage stunned me, remaining overseers sent out the alarm. The real shame was that I survived and killed them all. If I had to respawn I could just pretend it never happened, but no. I had to live with my poor decisions, just like all the other poor decisions I made in that game.

My dog in skyrim. I was super sad face. We had been through over 20 levels together. He always warned me of bandits and bears. Then a vampire killed him. That day I bought the dawnguard dlc, so I could get my revenge. I still haven't found another dog. :(
