Snipers get the Middle Finger in Destiny?
The most recent Bungie Weekly Update talks about nerfing special ammo. In their example of what they'd like players to think about their special ammo one of them said "Is this snipe worth it right now?" Is tihs how Bungie wanted the long range snipers to think? That it should be discouraged because of ammo becoming more scare? I'm really angry with it, and honestly snipers are hard enough to use right now. Am I the only one angry that snipers are just Collateral damage right now?
Edit: I understand the icebreaker is going to become popular now. What I don't like is the high zoom scope and recoil, and honestly should I really have to leave my custom longbow synthesis crucible sniper with unflinching/Firefly because of this update?
Edit: I'm getting hate that I'm using a final round camping in the back of the map. But I'm not, most of my sniper kills are from patience and time or my custom Longbow synthesis. I never stay in the back of the map for more then sixty seconds, and I snipe when I see that I've got a good vantage point on a possible enemy location. But with the new update I should be asking myself if I should keep on sniping since the limited special ammo I have should be used with a shotgun/fusion rifle with more kills? I adore sniping, it matches my playstyle, but according to the post, It's questionable if it's worth it anymore.
Final Edit: The update is out, and snipers are still a viable kill in Destiny. Idk about the quote, but I can still get good amounts of kills. I may be getting more with a shotgun(Since the range is the same as a pulse rifle) snipers weren't hurt that much

I'm a sniper too, and I primarily use a final round efrideets spear. (Everyone who just read that thinks I only use the last round LOL stereotypes). Anyway, even with this special ammo nerf if I strategize to grab at least 3 ammo boxes a game I usually end up with 14 bullets at any given time and end the game with ammo to spare, and I snipe quite a bit. I use my primary too of course, but its usually a balanced average of 10 primary to 10 sniper kills with maybe some grenades and some super kills thrown in there. Tl;dr I use a low ammo sniper and never feel like I run out of ammo.

More so fusion rifles, since they were already a little weaker than snipers and shottys anyway

4 RepliesEdited by Afawafa: 4/13/2015 7:44:53 AMWith snipers potentially being able to get a kill on every bullet, did it not occur to you that having up to 24 one hit ko bullets fully stocked most of the time was a tad bit ridiculous? You make it sound as if each box is only going to give 1 round. Even if each box only gave 6 shots, it'd still be pretty reasonable given how all special weapons are 1 hit ko power weapons.

2 RepliesIf you really like snipers, try battlefield, destiny is a close mid range game with few people at time. If a shotguner or handguner is able to shoot you, you are too close, and we dont really have big enough maps for that, or just 6 targets on the whole area.

I suppose adding my opinion after the last edit is a moot point but it feels to me like the only snipers that may be affected are those who go primarily for two body shots or do that thing with the last round. Otherwise it seems OK to me, I've just got to learn the box locations and pay attention to my ammo.

I'm finally enjoying crucible now. taking away a lot of the special ammo hit the spot for me.

5 RepliesI'll put it simple Magnetic bullet Auto Aim Whatever you want to call it Hand Cannons have a lot of it Snipers get none It totally invalidates the theoretical range and accuracy benefits of the sniper Turn off magnetic bullets So hand cannons need skill Then Snipers will balance

This game caters to shotgunners, if you play the game in any sort of skill oriented fashion bungie will make sure at least from time to time you will suffer for it, I've never seen a FPS game where gun skill is such a small factor

3 RepliesI gave up on snipers in crucible, the last 10 guys I tried to snipe from across the map killed me with a hand cannon first, snipers suck. Too slow for me to get the headshot if they are moving and not powerful enough for a one shot chest kill, I'll stick to hand cannons, thats the only gun you need for crucible, and a shotgun for tight quarters maps. Some assclown sniped me from pretty close with the ice breaker a couple times, must be using hip fire or some shit, lol

3 RepliesThis is the only example of when I'll say. Get GUD. And I mean it. 4k sniper kills 300 shotty kills. I have no problem sniping as long as it's an ambush scope and has a fast draw speed. The aim assist in this game is incredible sniping is so easy, just need the skill and reflexes

It would be cool if snipers specifically got a little ammo boost but I haven't had TOO much trouble with ammo. If I get careless and don't watch the crates every once in a while I can go long periods of time with no special sniper ammo

2 RepliesThe game really isn't designed to be a sniper. Yes there are moments and times you can be a sniper and the ammo compensates that, but really it's trying to be a faster paced primary weapon game you either need to adapt or change game. That's not a bad thing. The only game in my mind that welcomes snipers is bf and then you need to understand the game and learn bullet drop. Someone who can go positive in bf as a sniper deserves the praise.

1 ReplyI use snipers a ton in pvp and honestly the ammo crates haven't affected my snipe usage at all. Mainly cause I make all my shots count. For scrubs on the other hand that miss every shot and need ammo right away well sucks to suck.

5 RepliesGood im glad it seems like snipers are getting the bird. This is destiny with small maps. Not battlefield with large open maps. There is no point in even using a sniper on these small maps. I thought the same with COD too. If you're going to have snipers on small maps they should have iron sights only. I'd much rather have everyone on the enemy team use shotguns than sitting in the back of the map (usually spawn) being a little bitch.
