Edit 4: Consider this video, what if he lost his momentum for turning to much? He would need to use a gun.
Edit 3: I've played as a Titan before, I've used shoulder charge before. Please don't make comments saying I have never tried playing Titan.
Please read the WHOLE post CAREFULLY(that includes the edits) before commenting. Don't just respond to the title please.
This post is about shoulder charge only.
If you want to make a comment against my suggestion, at least know what it is first before posting a comment, also explain why you disagree.
Also please refrain from posting any disrespectful/offensive comments, no trolls please.
I've spent hundreds of hours in playing Destiny's Crucible. In many cases for me and many others shoulder charge can get extremely annoying at times especially when a Titan makes a sharp turn around a corner and shoulder charges you, when you run past a shoulder charger to avoid him but for some reason he can make a half turn to get you from behind, and very rarely but still irritating, when a Titan makes what is seemingly a 360 degree spin in the air to instantly kill you. I and many like minded players feel that shoulder charge is too powerful, especially since SC is extremely effective in close quarters, which most of Destiny's maps consist of mainly CQB areas.
I'm NOT saying nerf SC to the point where its just as effective as normal melee, that would make it completely underwhelming and would make its only good use as a method of transportation. Shoulder Charge is a weapon, so it should be used as one, but it should not be more effective than regular guns, and sometimes shotguns in PVP. I believe that one of the aspects of SC that makes it too powerful is that you do not lose your "momentum" when you turn. I think that SC can be balanced by making it so that players that make a 45 degree or more turn will lose their SC momentum, this would make shoulder charge unable to be used to instantly kill someone around a corner. Another possible solution is to make it so that when a Titan gains SC momentum their ability to turn around is made "stiffer."
These possible solutions would make shoulder charge not too powerful but strong enough to make players want to use it.
Edit: I know that shotguns can be used to counter shoulder charge, I just think that Titans should not be able to make a sharp turn around a corner and instantly kill someone. Also, before I get loads of comments saying that I don't know what it's like to play as a Titan, I have, SC is ridiculous at times.
Edit 2: People seem to be completely misinterpreting the point of the post, shoulder charge should remain a one hit kill, but your momentum should be lost if you make more than a 45 degree turn or turning with shoulder charge should be hindered. My reason for such suggestion is in the original post.
Edit 5: A little tweak to the "45 degree" balance suggestion, when a Titan loses their SC momentum from turning 45 degrees or more they should be able to regain momentum after the SC charge time if they continue sprinting, a Titan will not have to stop and start sprinting again to regain their SC momentum.

Edited by Carlous Scopalo: 4/7/2015 2:22:26 PMOkay so this is a lengthy response but I'm gonna leave it that way nonetheless. Turning during a shoulder charge is already very restricted. The only way to truly turn is to jump, turn and release the hidden missile! If you get caught of guard around a corner, the Titan had to anticipate where you are. he cannot control the motion after the turn so he can easily miss. This is similar to charging a fusion rifle around a corner and releasing in the direction you anticipate your foe to be. I for one feel the SC is quite okay as it is. Losing the charge when you turn in the air will simply turn it into a straight ling transportation system and a head on only attack (in other words, useless). Mobility options such as running off a map to boost and back will effectively be removed from the as an option if the charge is lost. This is an option currently available to all classes via turn and boost for the Titan, fully controlled glide for the Warlock and 2-3 part jumps for the hunter. I have read a whole lot on the forums and never bothered to comment. This however is one topic I have ended up commenting in on two different posts. I remember when people would complain over and over about hunters being OP (some sadly still do this), when folks were asking for Titans to have blink as a jump option and also activate their defender melee ability on connecting a blow (like the striker). I laughed within and thought, "wait till more people realize the individual strengths of all the classes, these requests will stop". Unfortunately that is not the case yet. For me, I see it as a game of balance that Bungie has played to the way certain people would like to play. The Titan enjoys moments of explosive superman action. Hunter goes Solid Snake Kung fu all over while the Warlock sits kinda in between with maximum JAZZ!!!. Long and short of my rant, we need to lean to adapt more. After-all, this is the same game folks complained about saying the classes are too hard to differentiate and the classes make very little difference in game play. I'm sure that many of these perceptions will change just as those did. The game is very good as it is now (leaving out the bugs). Few changes here and there would certainly improve the experience of course but some; like the most recent auto rifle nerf, are just not necessary because they reduce utility of attributes in the game rather than improve the experience those attributes contribute to the game. :EDIT: Typos Corrected ( I hope )
