EDIT: damn this got way more attention then I thought, thanks for all the great reply's. I'd now like to see opinions on what is the best exotic hc to use during pvp out or the hawkmoon, thorn, or TLW.
Edit 2: Thanks to whoever necrobumped this thought it was dead. After reading all the responses I've learned that the best hc to use is all of them, all 3 exotic hc are good on different maps. Cqc you go with TLW, mid-range to long-range you go with thorn or hawkmoon depending on your mood. I love my hawkmoon but I'll use TLW on Cqc maps as I'm very competitive.

From a PVE standpoint because I don't PVP I'm going to have to go with Fatebringer. I have FB and WoC and I use both depending on burns and checkpoints during raids. I'll use FB for the Abyss and WoC the rest of the way. I just like the perks better on FB and can't wait to ascend it to 365! I don't have hawkmoon and from I hear it fu*ks sh*it up and can't wait to get my hands on it! Hand cannons FTW!!!

Idk my lash red hand and TDYK all have good rolls Fate bringer is a godsend but I'm more consistent with my TDYK and then there's the fact that it does much better for a series of isolated targets. PVP wise my red hand is a contender but TLW does best for faster pace, and thorn is a nice crutch when I'm a wee bit lagging and compensates me with postmortem

Favorite overall: Red Hand IX It's got the highest base stability of any hand cannon in the game (at least all legendary hand cannons), so follow up shots and holding target acquisition in the crucible are a dream. It has a decent mag with 10 shots, so you don't have to worry much about getting ammo perks. The only real downside to this thing is the range, but I feel that range isn't that necessary for HCs (at least for me, because I use them for mid-close range encounters), and if you want more range, there are a few perks to supplement it, if you get the right roll. Favorite personal roll: The chance (check it out on my Titan). Got outlaw, perfect balance/field scout, and luck in the chamber. I use perfect balance to keep awesome stability, and that keeps my mag size at 6, so I have a high chance for each shot to have bonus damage (unless, of course, I've already hit the bonus damage). The small mag can work against me at times, but for the most part, perfect balance allows me to hit consistent critical kills, allowing outlaw to nullify the drawbacks of having a small mag.

I like the hawkmoon for the design of it and the sound. But my preference is tlw. It looks, feels and sounds great. It could use a fix to its dmg bug though. For pve it's obviously fatebringer. I hate that they have these extended barrels on certain ones, like timurs and red hand and the new crucible one coming in HoW, they ruin a cool design for me.

I usually run Thorn or TLW (LR vs cqc) but if it's a really tight map like The Anomaly, TFWPKY so I can free up my exotic slot for Invective. In PvE I don't really use them a lot because I tend to stay at range and I just love me some auto rifles, but I recall that Thorn is an absolute [b]beast[/b] in PvE from when I was leveling it up.

Actually my fav weapons are hand canons and scout rifles. So every hand canon I tried till now is very good . Have tlw (not upgraded) Red hand (2 of them) the chance ( with good perks) and finally my favorite fate bringer. No thorn or hawkMoon yet . Just hope to get word of crota and then I will be happy .

Timur's lash. It could do with either a slightly higher fire rate or more damage in the crucible but other than that it's brilliant, especially with the 3rd eye perk[spoiler]96 damage is a piss take, 2 headshots with this gun are so slow that I think it should be 100 damage per critical hit[/spoiler]

With the right rolls lots of hand cannons are good. With that said, in my opinion the 1969 is one of the best base hand cannons there is. Decent ROF, high impact, and large mag size make it one of the best. I also love my new Timur's lash. As far as exotics go hawkmoon and thorn are great. Thorn is vastly under rated for pve.
