Making a Warlock. Need Advice.
So, I have a 32 Titan that I started on from launch, a 31 soon to be 32 Hunter, and another 30 Titan I don't even use. I want to get rid of the 30 Titan and make a Warlock.
So my question is: what subclass should I start on? Voidwalker or Sunsinger? I probably will be using it for all-around purposes in PvP and PvE. Also, what exotic armor should I specifically be looking for? Any advice will be great. Thanks!
Edit: After reading the replies, it seems as if both are pretty good. Still haven't made a desicion yet. What armor pieces should I be looking for?
Edit 2: 50+ replies! Thanks guys! I ended up using both and leveling them up at the same time. I personally don't have a favorite yet.

3 RepliesYOu start with Voidwalker no matter. But as soon as Sunsinger is available you will want it for the revive perk. Voidwalker is fun though with a really cool super and great grenades - but Sunsinger is what I roll in NF and Raid except for the lamp maze where I like Voidwalker's super.

Sunslinger for fireborne if you want to raid right after hitting 20. Void walker is just so much better though.

5 RepliesI'll trade advice for advice xP I have two 32 warlocks. Start with sunsinger. It's more versatile and useful for raids and nightfalls. Voidwalker is fun, but not as needed as sunsinger. Best pieces of gear, heart of the praxic fire for sunsinger, no doubt, in every situation. For voidwalker you want obsidian mind. If you don't have it, voidfang vestments is great. Makes your axion bolt insanely strong. Guns, bad juju is king for warlocks, no doubt. Makes your super come back extremely quick. Secondary and heavy don't matter, whichever you prefer. My question is: glasshouse worth buying this week? I use ruin wings now and have armamentarium. Would I ever use glasshouse? I would think it could be useful when putting a bubble up to distract boomers on crota hard? I missed out on helm of st14 a few weeks back.

Start with Sunsinger for sure. It is good in both PvE and PvP. Look for a helmet at first as the Crota raid helmet will likely drop last for you. I suggest Apothesis Veil as top choice and Light Beyond Nemesis as the second choice. Heart of Praxic Fire is the all around best Sunsinger exotic armor so look for that in an end game type scenario.

I started my warlock earlier this week because RNG keeps giving me warlock drop when at the time I did not even have one. I do this with all my characters and upgrade the subclasses evenly until I'm finished with Venues. Bounties Bounties Bounties and crucible is fast and fun for upgrading your EXP to level 20. As a hunter and Titan player I'm enjoying leveling up a warlock again for the second time. Warlock was my first 30 character but the jump kept pissing me of so I focused on hunter class then eventually Titan. Titan is the most enjoyable thus far. Apologies for the short rant Have fun...

Warlock is pretty similar to titan. Except a lot more recovery and slightly less armor and agility. Pretty easy switch from a titan .

As a main warlock I would suggest if ur a main PvP player, start with void walker, on the other hand, if ur a main PvE player start with sunsinger because the self Rez is important in most PvE activities like raids and nightfall strikes

I run Sunsinger for Nightfalls and for Crota's End. I run Voidwalker with Obsidian Mind and Bad Juju at all other times. The mayhem and orbs generated from that setup is immensely satisfying. My warlock's last activity was CE, so he's still on that setup.

5 RepliesAlright Sunsinger is probably what most people are going to say because of self-res and such. Honestly since I got obsidian mind (an armor piece you really need to look for) I don't touch sunsinger often unless a solo nightfall or something in case I die. Voidwalker is so much fun to use and great in PvE and PvP. Don't buy sunbreakers from Xur right now unless you have tons and tons of coins and it will get you your first exotic for that class. But the main ones you will need are Obsidian mind, heart of the Praxic Fire, voidfang vestments (really good PvP chest), apotheosis veil for hard Crota, and light beyond nemesis is just nice to have in some situations. Hope this helped and hope you enjoy my favorite class in this game!

I was in the same boat about a month ago. I started with sunsinger but leveled them both simultaneously when I could do bounties. I got to 31 in 3 days and been stuck there all month till I got the raid chest piece and shit face xur keeps selling warlock helms and arms but no chest piece. Just get any armor piece you can. But start grinding today so you can do nightfall and raid then do it again after reset.

I started with sunsinger, but that's largely because I prefer to solo nightfall and it gives me that get out of jail free card, so to speak. I am still leveling void but have enjoyed the bit I've played with it so far. For armor, heart of the praxic fire, apotheosis veil, and obsidian mind are the ones I made sure to get first. I am still leveling obsidian and my bad juju but I am looking forward to trying that combo to generate almost endless nova bombs.

Sure one of the sunsinger perk with 2 of any grenades but with that u can also get touch of flame which burns people

Sunsinger is the superior subclass in every facet. Better grenades. Better melee. Better super. This applies to PvE and PvP. Me tho? When I started my additional classes by starting with the subclass I didn't want maxed first. Opened up the entire first line, then switched and maxed out that subclass.

Alright so I just started a Warlock too but the strategy that I used for my Hunter (that I will continue using obviously) is go back and forth between the two subclasses. With my Hunter I couldn't decide which one I liked better so I kept serving depending on the situation and he supers. I managed to level up both my subclasses, or at least most of their abilities, pretty early in the game, which gave me a huge advantage when teaming up with others. Just my two cents.

I did sun singer so I could be more useful with self revive and its boss, working on finishing VW now but it's up to you, do you want a class that'll keep you alive or one with mass damage.

Stay away from Sunsingers 'Fireborn' you will per auto become a weak player since you'll start to rely on self-res. You'll end up using your super upon death only, not offering the very powerfull dps potential support for your team. It's debatable if Fireborn is great or bad. For shitty players that can't stay alive or take cover, this is great.

If you're focussing on pvp, go with voidwalker and stick with axion bolt grenades once you unlock them. The exotic you'll be looking for is the Voidfang Vestments. If you wanna focus more on pve, sunsinger class with either Claws of Ahamkara or Heart of Praxic Fire. I personally prefer voidwalker in pve though, and use Obsidian Mind with it in pve. After playing around with it for a while, you'll figure which subclass you prefer.

If you play more pvp then start voidwalker and you want obsidian mind helmet if you play more pve start sunsinger and heart of praxic fire is best for that in my opinion

Depends on your playstyle; Voidwalker's more for people who like to make everything explode, and Sunsinger is more about survivability. Also, Voidwalker-favouring exotics boost combat capabilities, whereas Sunsinger-focused exotics boost ability cool downs and are more team-focused. Ultimately, I'd suggest doing what I did and trying out each subclass before deciding on which one you prefer. You should also keep in mind that you can switch them whenever you want, so you can always go Voidwalker for a short while, then switch to Sunsinger whenever you feel like it.

2 RepliesBoth are useful. Alternate. I did this with all 3 classes. As soon as you unlock a node switch to the other subclass. Do that each time you unlock a new node. It takes no time at all to max out both subclasses if you do that. If you do one at a time it takes forever to do the second one and it's like starting over because you can't even jump with a high level character early on.
