Machine guns are typically mounted and lmgs can be carried. They probably used hmg because people get confused and call auto rifles machine guns. Really auto rifles are sub machine guns because they lack the range required for it to be called a rifle. Suros may be an auto rifle but fast firing guns like atheons epilogue are more akin to submachine guns.

What. The. F*ck. The auto rifles are auto rifles, hence the name, a u t o r i f l e. Meaning automatic rifle. An automatic rifle can shoot at any speed they are designed, fast or slow. There are ARs in real life that shoot at a much higher and rapid pace than your average AR, that does not mean its a SMG. Typically SMGs fire a smaller caliber bullet and thats why they are able to shoot usually faster. However that is the only difference. Some SMGs can fire accurately at a distance as well. In the case of Destiny's auto rifles they are all classified as a rifle and not a compact rifle, meaning besides some having high RoF they are in no way close to an SMG.
Sorry I like my guns and when ppl mess them up it's annoying
So a gun that has little impact low range and bad accuracy would still be an auto rifle. Wouldn't the change in range and impact designate a smaller caliber. After writing that I looked up the definition of what a SMG is and its exactly what makes a gun an SMG.

Sure but show me where a gun in Destiny is classified as a sub compact. Its a rifle, its called a rifle. They all even look like full sized ARs.

I never said that they were classified as subcompact in destiny or that they didn't look like assault rifles (AR). I was comparing the stats to real life guns the suros has the impact and damage to be called an AR but atheons epilogue fires more like an SMG would.

There are real guns tht shoot faster than wht you're thinking of. Yes they shoot onewht like an atheons.

That may be but they aren't practical. If you went through a 66 shot clip in a matter of seconds you'd be cooking rounds when you put the next clip in. Also the accuracy would be terrible. The M16 had an Auto option to begin with but eventually they learned that after three bullets you weren't hitting what you were shooting at anymore so they disabled it and only allowed three round bursts or semi auto.
