Watched most of it, I agree, however, my own purchasing of games is based on how many of my friends will be playing that game, and some of my favorites, like Dishonored and Halo, never caused controversy intentionally. I guess I'm an indirect puppet since I imitate my friends who might be puppets lol.

Only those who actually go ahead and make their voices heard would be potentially generating publicity right? I mean, it's not really deception, the company is trying to get the word out about their game through any means necessary. Arguments, debates, controversy over one thing can get it so much attention. Yes we are. I like game theorists videos but can only take them in small doses. The main guy is a blaming narcissist, that I find annoying. But remember that's just a theory, a gaming theory!
