Why the Crucible seems Pointless
Why does it seem like everyone hates the crucible? Is it not fun, not interesting, or just too easy/hard? My theory is the people that hate PVP are the same people that hate PVP in every other game(which there is nothing wrong with). I mean I would understand if you don't like that type of gameplay. If it doesn't interest you to play it don't. Destiny gives the RPG community the chance to trying a first person shooter with a somewhat RPG build all while giving us aggresive Xbox(and less aggresive PSN) players the chance to do our thing.
A lot of people are having a problem with lag? Im not boasting or anything but im pretty lag free and I use wireless, so is bungie the problem or could it be something else?
Edit: Wow the replies are real. Thanks for all the input and point of views. Now im not saying the crucible is perfect, but is it really thaaat bad?

It needs better rewards. I can either play a pvp match for ten minutes and get nothing or play an ROC strike for ten minutes and get at least a blue engram.

Normally I love pvp, but in destiny I like pve a lot better.

Needs to be more rewards in the Crucible. Other than that, the gameplay can be enjoyable. I just can't justify doing it Cuz you literally get 3-4x the rewards in ROC strikes for the same time put in.

I dont like destiny pvp, and i love most fps pvp. I just hate the "shoot someone 16 times for a kill" aspect of pvp. Too much like halo for me. And the maps are terrible, almost all of them feel like a new age cod map, where you spawn and die 10 seconds later. If the supers didnt exist id never play it, adds such a freaky variable

1 ReplyPeople think playing Crucible is all about rewards. I play PvP because i get to demolish other guardians and teabag them after victory while at the same time having tons of fun. I have literally fell asleep before doing missions/strikes but crucible keeps me on my feet. Just my opinion though.

2 RepliesCrucible is pointless since it earns you the least engrams and items of any activity if you want to progress your guardian don't do pvp. I love it but it's totally pointless to other activities compared over time invested

The fact that you can win a game of control with only 1 flag is a huge turn off towards the crucible. I like to run around rumble with stupid guns for fun and try not to be very competitive on control because it just frustrates me. It's also not very versatile. I can use a gun I enjoy and do ok or do very bad. But if I pull out one of exotic hand cannons my score increases quite a bit. I played hard core mode when I played cod so the kill time is fine for me. I just wish the other guns could hold some ground.

I've played cod since cod4 so love PvP but destiny seems a little less polished but then cod4 was very basic compared to the latest and greatest so it'll get better in time. It just seems the marks are too few and if your ever in a 2 on 1 you will 97% of the time lose because the time to kill so long unless you've a heavy machine gun. Hence why people use shottys and fusion rifles to clear people quickly. It's just to slow paced and the heavys too strong and the lag to real.

Gametypes with objectives 3. Special ammo drops less frequent and NO spawn ammo 4. One heavy drop per match 5. Shorter range for radar 6. More variety in maps 7. Always avaible game modes 8. Better loot by increasing chances according to your stats 9. At least one engram per match Etc etc etc etc

2 RepliesThe main reason I don't play it is that the reward drops are so rare. I can run roc strikes and get a bunch of rare engram and semi frequent get legendary engrams. I can run the crucible all day and get next to nothing. Plus the rate you earn marks is way to low. It's takes forever to max it out.

I sometimes feel the Crucible is pointless because the way rewards are generated is severely broken. Why do I want to spend more time waiting and less time playing a game, and not get a good chance of getting rewarded for it. I would rather be able to play more during a strike or raid with less time waiting and a far greater chance of getting rewarded something worthwhile. I like the Crucible but not enough to keep playing consistently. Call me selfish but I like to have incentives to play. I don't like playing just for the hell of it like some jerks have expressed to me with this argument I've expressed multiple times. I guess I'm like a lab rat that wants to be rewarded. Lol. Peace.

PvP - player v player...not perk v lack of or the right op weapons v the lack of. Pvp in this game is very badly (and lazily) implemented. Due to p2p Regional matchmaking, even the out of game stats are pretty useless. As you're only taking on local players. Sorry to the guys that like the fact they're in the top few percent world wide...but the simple truth is, you're not. Stats are generated locally, then applied globally after the fact. In every other game I've played I mainly pvp. It's what I love. But I can't take the crucible seriously I'm afraid. It's there for bounties and to pass the time. .

Play crucible for an hour and then go play vanguard ROC for an hour. If this game is about building characters than its no question that crucible is a waste of time. Iron Banner is a different story and something I play a lot of when available because of the loot you can get from it. Hopefully someday we will have IB, Trials of Osiris, and Queens Wrath on a rotating cycle to always have a reason to play in the crucible. Until then, vanilla crucible will always be on the back burner for me until they can equal the loot/minute that RoC playlist has. Edit 1: also Val's T'arc never complains how OP my shotguns are. He doesn't seem to mind.

Sadly these people don't understand that "practice makes perfect" and "quitters never win" Only way to get better at it. It to play it. And honestly, if you can't even do that on a video game you like. Then you aren't gonna get far in life. As its gonna force you to do tons of thing you don't like and aren't good at.. Every chance it gets. Good luck :D

The matchmaking is pretty bad. If you have a high combat rating then you get stuck with the worst players in the lobby and you can go for 45+ kills and 8000+ points and lose. I am usually the top player overall and I have an annoyingly large amount of "on the bright side" medals

its just so halfassed. Is it truly competative? the nerfs and constant pvp events may make it appear so, but the lack of private matches or skill based matching disagree. Is it purely fun, like in the ancient mmos? Though the frequency of special and heavy may make it appear so, the lack of level/equipment difference take away that notion. And its not a great way to progress in game either as it barely gives out loot.

11 RepliesI hate that I never feel rewarded even when I consistently rank 3rd 2nd and 1st in my team, and almost always place with a positive KD. I've seen time after time again where a dude who went 1 and 20 receive SOMETHING (whether it be an engram, armor, exotic, etc.) while EVERYBODY ELSE gets absolutely nothing. I am personally just sick and tired of this incompetent "reward" system. Oh, and no private matches.. It is pure blasphemy to have a PvP function in a game and not include private matches.

No you get crap rewards i wish they would be more like roc strikes were you would be awarded 2 or 3 blue engrams per match
