Auto rifles nerfed too much?

I am beginning to think that Bungie may have nerfed auto rifles too much especially in PvE. They seem to have gone into a kind of grey area where they are outclassed by other weapons and don't really even fill the medium range engagement role well. I think that they should look at a very small buff in PvP and a slightly larger buff in PvE. I don't have anything scientific, but they just feel underpowered now. What do you guardians think?

    • I really don't know why they did just nerf them in PvP to start with since Bungie can nerf PvP and PvE independently as evidenced by the shotgun buff in PvE. Now hand cannons are the new "AutoRifles" and need a slight nerf in PvP.

        We can't buff everything as that increases the speed you die, however, Auto-rifles seem a little underpowered at the moment, I'd suggest buffing it by 1.5% instead back to 2.5% or 7%. Better yet, increase the health of guardians in PvE by 25% or 10%, that way we won't die right as we spawn, and then rebuff auto rifles. Also, Felwinters Lie is an instant kill weapon which can hit fusion rifle distances, that's further than the scoped Universal Remote by like 2x. It's damage needs to fall of more drastically after passing the close quarter's boundary.

        • I agree 190%. What is the purpose of nerfing the most popular gun in every pvp ever? It makes no sense. Why not tweak the special ammo spawning so that shotguns aren't overused? Oh wait, that actually requires effort for bungie so we can't do that. I swear these people don't know how to make an actual game

              i agree they nerfed them too much particularly since the ALSO NERFED THEM FOR PvE so stupid of Bungie, the problem was with PvP

            • Auto rifles in the Crucible are now pretty much useless. PvE they seem somewhat a little more useable if fully upgraded. Sort of sucks for me as I don't play crucible anymore cause auto rifle was my gun. Now it's just a shotgun slide fest with the occasional pulse rifle pounding... sad really.

            • The problem with autorifles is not their effectiveness, but the guardians who use them. Be honest, the only reason anyone uses autorifles, is because they cannot hit a cows arse with a banjo. If they could hit a cows arse, they would be using more effective, and powerful weapons. Autorifles are entry level weapons, which should only be used, as a stepping stone onto something better. The fact that so many guardians seem incapable of stepping higher than the first rung of the ladder, speaks volumes of their abilities.

              • I agree. Every once and a while I try using my auto rifles and it only reminds me why I don't touch them anymore. I used to love my new monarchy auto. Now even if I get head shots at low to mid range I am almost always beat. The only people I kill with my auto these days are the noobs that try to charge me across the map with a shotgun. The days of a useful auto are long dead in both pvp and pve thanks to the nerfs.

              • Just for shiggles I attempted the NF with my Atheon's Epilogue, the only Void Primary that I currently own........ I was out of ammo on the second kill. Shouldn't Auto Rifles be similar to low to mid range buzz saws?

                • I think ARs are where they're supposed to be damage-wise. What I don't like is the damage-drop of from range. Come on, ARs have some of the longest barrels of all weapons, but acts like a pdw or small smg. Bungie should either add range (not increased stability!) or redesign ARs completely in the lines of hard light which both acts and feels like a smg. I really disagree that ARs aren't a viable choice in PVE. I've used 'up for anything' with great succes in weekly raids (lvl 30) and numerable ROC strikes. My old shadow price still owns in same types of pve and is very competable in pvp. I even did the previous weekly strike with hard light with ease. Btw hard light is a good weapon (could use arc damage). I totally agree that the extreme high RoF/low dam ARs are worthless. But that have been the case since beta.. The AR nerf did indeed change how ARs feel, but they've just been given a specific role/mechanic in the game - just like every other gun in the game. Still good at most, master of none

                  • Without question. In fact, if Xûr sells the Suros tomorrow, I might still buy it because auto rifles are going to have to be buffed again sometime to cancel out the nerf
