I am beginning to think that Bungie may have nerfed auto rifles too much especially in PvE. They seem to have gone into a kind of grey area where they are outclassed by other weapons and don't really even fill the medium range engagement role well. I think that they should look at a very small buff in PvP and a slightly larger buff in PvE. I don't have anything scientific, but they just feel underpowered now.
What do you guardians think?
-
Yes. They were nerfed to hell.

All my auto rifles are collecting dust. The only one I have used since then is necro for shits and giggles

12 RepliesI think if something's been nerfed at all it has been too much. The only nerf I'm okay with is nerfing shoulder charge. No malee attack should be a one shot to someone at full health. Especially one that's so easy to do. The Vex was nerfed to death along with auto rifles. It has totally ruined pvp.

When I enter a match and see people using autos I laugh. They're a joke.

Fully agree. Bring back the power of our Auto Rifles!
-
Without a doubt, I think they were probably fine where they were, the other primary's just needed a buff.

3 RepliesI agree with you. Auto rifles have been nerfed way too much. The problem Bungie has is they continue to remove one problem and add another. I'm talking abut Pulse Rifles here. They significantly nerfed both Auto rifles and Hand Cannons, which I'm sure we can all agree where very OP. Key players are the Suros and Thorn. But after they removed the monsters known as Suros and Thorn with their patch, they released a new monster in their place.. This monster is known as Red Death. The Crucible battle grounds are now littered with the bodies of its victims. Being a well rounded player with all four types of Primary Weapons. I have noticed that Red Death is a bigger pain in the ass than any other weapon I have fought. And now everybody and their grandmother has it. I was perfectly ok with the Pulse Rifle buff, in fact I really think it was needed. However now that AR's and HC's Have been nerved, PR's have the whole house advantage. What they should have done is buffed the Pulse Rifles and left every thing else alone. If AR's and HC are returned to their former glory I believe that all PR's ARs and HC,s will at last be on equal playing fields. On a side note, Vex should be re-buffed as well considering its rarity. That gun should be the golden child of Crucible however now it's a push over.

What i proposed: remove precision damage from autorifles and make them do higher bodyshot damage to target players who don't care to land shots on the head and just squeeze the trigger

I think the bigger picture is the way Bungie has been trying to balance the weapons in the game. Nerfing and/or buffing one particular type of weapon is not a good way of truly balancing the PvP and PvE aspects of the game. To their credit, they're doing something instead of nothing. But they need to really look into how they are balancing the weapons overall. Right now, they're doing a terrible job. I don't know of any, but if there was a way for Bungie to readjust how they balance the weapons, then any one type of weapon user wouldn't be singled out because of a nerf to their weapons. It would be totally on the skill of the weapon handler. The game is still new and they're looking at all the data. They just need to approach weapon balancing differently.

2 RepliesI think the larger issue is something went very askew in the primary weapon design, engagement ranges and PvP map design. I always thought and found auto rifles to be too good at their job until this last round of nerfing. I am mainly a PVE player but for me it was long range, auto rifle; mid range, auto rifle; short range, auto rifle - I did not need to consider other primaries and a lot of times I did not need to consider special weapons either because auto rifles were so good. I do not want to belabor my point but trying to make it short I would say there are more issues with lack of PvP map design with regards to engagement ranges and too many weapons with not enough encounter areas made correctly to support the diversity or the intent of designed weapon. As for PvP the thing I do know is, top tier players will always use the equipment, tactics and COMMO that gives them the greatest edge so it is largely irrelevant to discuss where last months favorite is in standing as well as this months because they are already beating you with next months favorite or team stomping you with Khvostovs (and superior tactics) 😉

Yeah they need to Buff damage, they have made them useless
-
Auto rifle became pretty useless full clip to kill one stupid creature ... this is joke...

1 ReplyThis has been posted so many times It might get done it might not They might not give a shit Disclaimer: i do agree with you

I agree
-
Auto rifles need a buff the suros went from amazing to decent and auto rifles that were good or ok became barely usable
-
Yes please! It's really sad seeing my old auto rifles collect dust in the Vault. Please fix them because the only thing dominating crucible are the hand cannons! BUMP!
-
6 RepliesAuto rifles and Shotguns rule PVP even after Nerf. They are still viable post patch in PVE as well. No need to Buff.

They should just take out all the guns. We can slap fight Crota
