American Idiot
should i buy this CD? Just herd Broken dreams of bolivard and I thought it was awsome but I dont want to buy the cd and thats the only good song on there. So what do you guys think?

Not much of a Green Day fan myself, and due to a reason no one here says. I think they are too hard for MY taste. Everyone here obviously doesnt listen to the stuff I like clearly, and probably would think it was -blam!-, but hey. I liked Boulevarde of Broken Dreams. Its nothing particularly original, but it pushed all the right buttons for me, and really fitted well with my taste. On the other hadn I dont like Green Day enough to buy the album. And to person who complained about politics. Politics is one of the issues important enough to use music in. What I really find annoying are bands like Busted, who sing about utter pointless crap ("What I/We (i have forgotten which) go to School For" anyone?). If you think Green day are political, you should listen to some other stuff. Look for Peter Nardini or Dick Gaughan on the web. No subtlety there about their left wing (and I mean left wing, not centre right Democrat style left wing, I mean socialist) attitudes. Though they do sing about other stuff, but the poltical stuff is the best. And yes, punk has always been political, as someone has said before.

you said "broken dreams of bolivard". Its called "Boulevard of broken dreams" and if u dont want to spend money on the CD just download it free from the internet from somewhere like Limewire, or bearshare or kazaa.com they all work.

I've listened to Green Day since I was wee lad and have enjoyed a lot of their music, but lately I've forgotten about them so I haven't really had the chance to listen to their latest CD. The song American Idiot hasn't impressed me but the reviews say that the song doesn't do the rest of the CD any justice.

Punk has always had heavy political messages from the beginnings. Go listen to the Ramones, Sex Pistols, Bad Religion, Dead Kennedys, and the list goes on and on. This guy says that punk is his favorite music but yet had no knowledge of what it is or what it was all about. He doesn't like punk he likes these watered down bands that MTV spoonfeeds us and calls punk. To say that any band shouldn't talk about politics is bad enough but to say that he doesn't like a punk band because of a political message is just plain ignorant. It's an awesum CD. I got it for Xmas and I listen to it basically everyday! There are way better songs on than American Idiot and Blvrd of Broken Dreams.
