Considering the Destiny Easter egg way back in ODST, who thinks this would be a cool (and interesting) crossover? Obviously master chief won't be in the games, but a lot of games have behind the scenes crossovers.

I think it is theoretically impossible. Judging from the mini movie in the beginning of destiny, we found the Traveler around the time between 2020 and 2030-40. With the advancements the traveler gave us, we would have surpassed Halo technology for the better part, and if you pay attention to dates within the Halo universe, the Shaw-Fujikawa Drive was developed around the 23rd century, and in Destiny, we developed that same technology almost immediately after humanity discovered the Traveler, well inside the 21st century. Also, the style of government in Halo is a military government. In Destiny, it is debatable whether or not it is a military government, but lets say it isn't and it is a hierarchy. With the events taking place in Destiny, the UNSC would have to most likely come into power in a military coup, which would be nearly impossible with the events of The Twilight Gap and the Faction Wars. Also, if you look at it in reverse, the UNSC wouldn't let the government within Destiny take over due to the paranoia within the UNSC over anti military rule. Thats what i think, but i'm open to other theories

I don't think so. The time lines don't add up. The traveler arrived in 20th century. Not to far off from our own time as evidenced by the AR or M4 the astronaut was carrying along with the late model space craft. The lore states that we've had AGES since the collapse. The golden, dark, and city ages. Now granted an AGE isn't specified by a time period but it does seem to lead one to believe these periods were longer than say 10 or 15 years and were closer to the hundreds. Let's round and say each was 100. If that's the case it gives humanity roughly 100 years to push back the darkness, develop (or find) slip stream technology and colonize the galaxy. Unlikely but it would be really cool if they were in the same universe.

Well, it wouldn't be that farfetched. After all, the Traveler could have been the reason the humans got into space in Halo, I'm not sure if you ever go to Russia in Halo, so nothing to disprove me there, and then the Covenant and all those other aliens are just other races fighting for the darkness.

Sweet. That means we can go back in time and save Cortana.

1 ReplyNope, no crossover. Bungie doesn't do halo anymore.

I feel the same way, the events of halo bring us to destiny, like the guardians were formed from Master Chief.

Wouldn't shock me if it was originally going to be tied into Halo, but when Halo was sold they took their ideas and changed the names/places.

7 RepliesI think not. Unless Destiny is a game being developed in the halo universe by a future game company.
-
5 RepliesHuh. Earth and Earth though. The sol system is in both games so it wouldn't work. Unless you bring in Destiny's multiverse theory into account, in which case yes potentially Alpha Lupi could have encouraged Humanity during their first advancement (and she could be the Gardner?) and Halo would take place later. Bit of a stretch though. I think it's just nods to Bungie's previous/future work.
