We rarely learn anything useful about weapons and what not. There was a shooting on a naval base around the time of Sandyhook, and the one media source said the perpetrator was using "an AR-15 shotgun" or some bullshit. I'll go find a picture and edit.
The media is a cancer. It's all about ratings anymore. It's gotten so bad that even Anchorman 2, a Will Ferrel movie that is in no way serious, was able to mock it accurately.
