Would you give your allegiance to a god?
If a god appeared to all of Earth, and requested absolute power, or else he would destroy our planet, would you accept his deal?

Yes. But only if the god comes down and is like, "Hey, guys, I'm just gonna chill here for a couple centuries and help you guys out with technology and reform some of your social and economic norms and whatnot. Then I'll leave and it'll be up to you again." I draw the line when the god starts to ask to be worshiped or otherwise prayed to.
