Xur Weapon Upgrades Broken
I bought the Mida Multi-Tool today, and before upgrading it, i spent the remaining strange coins i had on an exotic shard and upgraded it... assumed 'upgrade' meant increassed damage or better perks or SOMETHING.
the weapon is EXACTLY the same. a complete waste of glimmer and strange coins. and, of course, bungie has long stated that you cannot get materials back from an upgrade after purchasing it. i've been had. xur's a thief.

Don't sweat it. You'll get tons of shards (don't buy them) and it's better to just farm the new ones anyways. I've got 14 shards just sitting in my vault. Now you know. And knowing is half the battle...

Ok in defense of people doing dumb things. If you look at the armor stats for intellect, discipline and strength, then look at what Xur is offering. You can improve armor in those stats by buying the upgrade from Xur; but not always.

3 RepliesThe upgrades are for improving pre DLC exotics to the new stats. 30 light to 36 and 300 attack to 331. This also resets all upgrades on an item. What you did was a waste due to you not understanding the process.

He's not a thief you just don't look up things when you should not do you pay attention, the upgrade is to get the newest version, because before the Crotas end DLC came out, damage for exotics was only 300. The upgrade is there so you can get the Crotas end ready weapon

The system is for upgrading [b]pre TDB[/b] exotics (Max 300 attack) to the current attack cap (Max 331 attack). It's useless on post TDB exotics as they're already capped at 331. Hope this clears it up guardian.

1 ReplyEven when you hover over the upgrade it shows you what you're upgrading to, so it would of showed you the exact same Multi-tool as you held acquire.

This section of Xur's inventory is for upgrading exotics with pre-DLC stats(300 damage 30light) to post-DLC status(331 damage 36 light). It also resets a weapons upgrade progress.
