Trying to find the secret of Sandtrap
A few months before Halo 3 came out, i remember reading an update which mentioned "The biggest Easter Egg ever". I don't believe Bungie has told us that it has been found yet. It is possible it has been found, or it may still be out there. When i first heard about the method to get the I Would Have Been Your Daddy skull, i thought that was it. I don't think that anymore though. I still think this Easter Egg is out there and i think it could be on Sandtrap. Why Sandtrap? First, I believe its Sandtrap due to the description of one of last month's updates. It had a picture of Sandtrap and said "It's a barren wasteland, or is it?". Also, there are the elephants. The elephants are what i believe contribute to the Easter Egg. How? Not quite sure yet but after doing some research it seems like they are the key. As some of you may have noticed each elephant has a different name, one is the Leviathan and the other, the Behemoth. Well after doing a few searches on both these names i found a connection between them. They are both Biblical creatures. The Leviathan is said to be a large sea monster (possibly whale, serpent or crocodile). The Behemoth is said to be a enormous land animal (possibly ox, elephant, hippo or rhino). I also found a connection to one more name, the Ziz. The Ziz is said to be a large bird like creature whose wingspan can block out the sun. It is said that the Behemoth and the Leviathan fight and the The Creator will approach them with his mighty sword [and slay them]. He will then use the skin of the Leviathan to make canopies for shelter of the righteous, who will eat the meat of the Behemoth and the Leviathan in a large banquet. So what does this have to do with Halo 3 and Sandtrap? Well i find a few things that stick out. First the names on the elephants greatly relates to this. Also how the Creator will slay them with his "sword" (possible lead to energy sword). Maybe you have to make the elephants "fight" or somehow combine them with the Ziz (possibly hornet). The one thing that i believe to be the Ziz though is the Aegis Fate (large ship that looks like the dawn). How or if it has a connection with the elephants, I dont know. I actually haven't read the behemoth page yet, i got some information of the behemoth from the leviathan page.
If anyone has any feedback or ideas the the Secret of Sandtrap please reply. These are some things that i found which MAY lead to the secret (or could be nowhere close to the secret, if there actually is one). I hope that the people who read this are interested in finding secrets and eggs and help by providing criticism and ideas. I hope that there are people who may actually look into this more by research or acutally playing around in forge on Sandtrap and actually trying to find a connection between these biblical beasts. man you guys have come up with some good ideas since I've left this thread. has anyone tried putting the crowbar in the black hole? I tried it once but I missed and I didn't want to restart because I don't have much patience for monotonous tasks (kind of a bad argument I guess. kind of the same as saying I hate my water when it is wet. lol.)also... I have noticed that when you drive either elephant onto the downed phantom not only does the game lag, but the elephant turns black, like it is in a shadow. it doesn't make sense that this would happen though because there is nothing blocking the sun. just trying to give information to further the search. we need to hire Nicholas Cage.

im not sure but this might help... okay... you mentioned the hornet and the elephants... well the "mammoth" map is a flying elephant with only a hornet to guide it... people say only the party leader (creator) can fly the mammoth. and ive only seen maps with one mammoth at a time... well theres 2 hornets... 2 elephants? connection? i dont know you decide... but yeah... and just a guess... behemoth and levithan are sepret teams... behemoth is red and levithan is blue... so mabye the flyers need to be 2 teams of 2... one red and one blue... sinces 2 is a connection here... i hope this helps... but its just a guess good luck!

The two creatures are in fact mythological and biblical, but it has nothing to do with any big secrets. The two elephants are nick-named "Leviathan" and "Behemoth." One with a picture of a large sea-monster and the other of a woolly-mammoth, both fairly big creatures. This was done by Bungie to give the feel that the marines that landed there nick-named the vehicles, just like the Gears in Gears of War 2. The ship-thing in the sand is an Albatross supply carrier, not a pelican. The UNSC frigate above is just for ornamental purposes, but the Ziz and elephant names may have some relation to each other; however, this is just the creative imagination of Bungie at work. And what Bungie means by "The Biggest Easter egg ever," is that up on one of the towers, there is a da Vinci code egg. It's a literal joke. Also, flipping the elephants has the funny joke that has to do with the size of the vehicles and the size of the character. There is no real big secrets, and if you still want to know more, Google the map or something. Everything should have been found out already, and if not, then it would be in new updates from Bungie on the map. They shouldn't anytime soon though because of the progress of the new maps. But, look at screen shots of Sandbox. The map itself is very similar to Sandtrap. [Edited on 02.24.2009 11:50 PM PST]

i think my brain exploded at biblical...dont you think this is getting taken just a little too far, for a video game? just because we've all seen national treasure and those kinda movies doesn't mean there are secret messages hidden everywhere.

well with the eggs you cant swap weapons or equipment or use vehicle standing next to them (some randoms modded map) so maybe you can use them somehow. Just a hunch

The tripmines are easter eggs. Get killed by one, go to theatre mode, and look at the explosion, and inside it will be the egg-shaped thingy. Mabe the shrine defenders are the eggs. Someone before said there were 6 elephants in the sky. Ya well there are 6 towers with 6 eggs. So maybe the eggs are the shrine defender.
