Are Higher K/D Players More Respected than Lower K/D Players?

How do you feel about the credibility of a higher K/D players vs a player with a lower K/D? Should a players opinions and views be respected the same regardless of their K/D? Why should K/D be an indication for you to take a player seriously or not? Should it matter? What are you views on the matter? Discuss.

I don't care. I'll play a couple games in the Crucible to see if you're trash or not. And then I decide whether you earn my respect or not.

  • reading my entire post probably gives a better vision of what im trying to say here but there's a tldr at the bottom. from the pvp point of view i compare their kdr to mine when im deciding wether i want to play with them or not, usually when i get to know people through the game ill play with them regardless, but when im looking on the forums i use it as in indication wether they know and understand how to play the game and arent just here to cry about things being too hard. for example when a guy with a 2.5 kdr complains about thorn and last word then hes most likely aware and understands the reasons why hes complaining about them because of them being imbalanced, when a guy with a 1.0 kdr or lower complains about it i can assume that they wouldnt be able to compete with a skilled player anyway, regardless wether he uses the handcannons or something else, hes just going to be better due to his understanding of how to play pvp, how to move around, how to stay alive and thats what kdr really is, being capable of staying alive for a greater amount of kills on 1 death, being able to play the game and do well by yourself instead of having to rely on others to make the game easier for you. now im not saying that a bad pvp player cant understand certain things about pvp, he just lacks the skill, not the intelligence. but most people that come here to the forums and cry about things and they usually both lack skill and intelligence, like those "trials is too hard" threads blaming it on the weapons being used, even tho like i said before a more skilled player will wipe the floor with them regardless of what he uses, however thats difficult to do when the guy that complains about OP weapons usually is using the same weapons himself. both parties using the same weapons, whoever wins the match is simply better be it because of their teamwork, their coördination, their aim, whatever theyre better, yet these people that cry say thats because of the weapons they use wich doesnt make an sense at all therefore they lack intelligence. TL;DR KDR is an indication of what theyre capable of on their own, if its bad then they usually are clueless and just spawn, trade kills(if that even happens), die, repeat. on the forums if the post is well formulated and clearly explains a problem and the reasoning behind why its a problem with possible solutions or changes that actually make sense then i dont care what their kdr is. but thats a thing thats very uncommon on this forum. so kdr is the only real thing that shows how an average game for them progresses ( kdr is still an average, everyone has good and bad games once in a while) and wether they know what theyre talking about if the post isnt what i just mentioned.

  • They are but I respect players with a high quantity of kills At the end of the match, a player with 40 kills and 30 deaths helps more than a player with 10 kills and 5 deaths

    • I like to think it gives me a general idea on what I'm up against or partner with. Sure you can have bad games, but K/D is an average of your overall playstyle. I'll make a scenerio. For the purpose, let's say we are playing clash, so no objectives can get in the way as a variable. Suppose I have a 1.0 K/D. Pretty standard. Nothing too good but not too bad. And I like to rush in and attach aggressively. I'm up against something who has a 1.9 K/D. This can mean two things. He either camps in the back and waits for people or he rushes in and knows how to play those situations. This gives me an idea on how to prepare either scenerio. Say he's a rusher. I rush in, but I get destroyed every time its 1v1. The game ends with me getting 4 k 11 d and him getting 17 k 6 d. Say he's a camper but I know how to deal with those types of players. I wreck him and continue to do so. We end the game with me getting 11 k 8 d and him getting 6 k 14 d. It allows you to predict how each player can play. Now say I go play 8 more games. I get (respectively in K/D) a .3, .5, 3.33, 1.76, 1.2, 1.06, 7.33, and a 1.0. Overall you would see I'm a pretty average player with some outliers. But thats it. Just outliers. As an average player, you can predict how each player can potentially and use it to your advantage. TL;DR yes, I think it is important. It does matter to give you information. But I also think that W/L is important too. I think players should be judged to an extent.

Please ... The first question I would ask to a high k/d player is whether they run regularly with a team or solo. That more than anything determines whether your k/d is decent or no. There are some truly skilled players out there that make you say "damn that was a good move" after getting killed. You know who they are, they post you tubes with their amazing skill at sniping, aiming etc. But the reality is that the majority of the people I've faced in crucible are about the same skillwise. One on one, once you have enough experience, you have as good chance to get a kill as the other guy (provided you didn't jump/surprise the other person). However the key normally is whether there is communication and coordination. It's self evident, that team that is holding everything in control and camping the spawn point is probably not a bunch of randoms. I can even venture that is way more difficult to maintain a positive k/d playing always as solo. Yes, you will get the occasional awesome team where everybody is clicking and devastates everything, but more often than not is going to be a mixed bag of some good teammates with the occasional beginner.

        • K\D is only a suggest. K\D in pve is nothing, its a plain numbers. In crucible (clash, or other Deathmatch) K\D is more usful, but its not telling you that partner behind you will help you with enemy or only waits for steal a kill... Very often players with K\D <1 are better team players than rest "good" or "highly skilled" guardians. I prefere playing with guardians who save my ass no matter what (even using super for me) and we lost than play with players who only look at their K\D and have rest team in... And win.

        • K/d is most important in deathmatch game modes. Overall, score is what leads to victory.

        • K/D isn't everything. I've seen people with really good numbers but are horrible at PVE. And vice versa. It's just a number. I've played with guys that dominate Crucible but have a very tough time with the mechanics in raids. I've had more fun with groups when we've lost then won.

          • I think it's a mixed bag. All sorts of people will look at your K\D and either fear\respect you or they'll just simply call you a tryhard bitch, that only got their K\D through camping and abusing the OP weaponry.

          • K/d really doesn't bother me. I use my titan for the most part in crucible. Holding steady at a 1.0. I'll have a game where I'll go 23-10, then have a game where I'll go 10-20. I'm just in it to have some fun. I don't like losing, but it's not the end of the world if I do. It is just a game. :)
