How do you feel about the credibility of a higher K/D players vs a player with a lower K/D? Should a players opinions and views be respected the same regardless of their K/D? Why should K/D be an indication for you to take a player seriously or not? Should it matter? What are you views on the matter?

Anytime I get tea bagged the person is holding a shot gun or a thorn.

K/D measures individual skill. A team with bad teamplay will result in alot of deaths because nobody has your back.
-
Nope. KD is just something pricks use to make themselves feel good about themselves. I mainly play PvE but dabble in PvP for bounties and to change it up a bit. I couldn't care less about my KD. If I did, it'd be higher because I'd play smarter. Melee bounty? I'm running at you to melee you till I get it done. Sniper headshot bounty? I'm atrocious at sniping but I'll sit there trying till I get it done, sacrificing Same with all other specific bounties. Could I pulse rifle your head before you knew what hit you? Yea I could. But I don't care. My stats are public for anyone to see.

To me Respect is something that is earned, not given

Edited by Xesty: 7/20/2015 4:43:01 PMThis was my first FPS ever so even though I go flawless every week and rarely have below a 1.5 k/d people don't think I'm good because when I started I was horrible.
-
Nope. I'm a PvE player. I couldn't care less about your K/D. Or mine for that matter.
-
Not really, 've seen people go negative and still get the highest score on both teams. Imo Score per minute is most important, like in BF, but I don't think it's tracked.
-
Yes. They have more experience with battle tactics, therefore their opinion outweighs others. I would trust the judgement of someone with a 2.5 k/d related to crucible, versus someone with a 1.2 k/d

I judge forum posts based almost solely on their content alone, including their tone, civility, and the quality of thought behind them. But I definitely have higher respect for players with high KD. A lot of people are always quick to say "High KD means nothing if you aren't capping objectives" which is just silly - the reverse is much more true that capping objectives means nothing if you aren't getting any kills. If a good player sees two teammates capping a point, is he more likely to rush over and sit uselessly on the capture point so that he gets "credit" for it too? Or is he going to push forward and help them cap it by making sure they don't get attacked while doing so? Multiple players sitting at a capture point is really just a liability, a quick triple kill waiting to happen for your opponent's grenade or super. The bottom line is that it's really silly to say that someone with a lot of kills and high KD but zero captures "didn't contribute". Do you really think they would be a "better player" if they stayed and capped the starting point with half the team rather than start to push right away?

Yea if I'm playing pvp it matters. I play to win so obviously someone with a high kd will help more compared to a low kd. For pve doesn't matter imo. I doubt people care about pve stats nor look at them. If a raid as an example is taking too long because of the crap player they get the boot.
-
Yes, they're better.
-
In my experience, on lfg the higher kd players are certainly more respected
-
I sometimes run with a guy that has a 2.6 k/d. I respect him as a Destiny player, but I know he got that high k/d with blink/shotgun and make fun of him for it all the time.
-
It really depends on where their KD/r is highest at. If in normal crucible they have less then a 1.0 but in trials they have n outragiously high KD/R then no they wont get my respect because I know they are cheating their ass off. If they have a decent KD/R across the board then yes I can respect that they know what they are doing.
-
High K/D doesnt matter, I can have the lowesr K/D in the game and my friends would still love me, I have a good K/D i think but it all matters on whether your a -blam!-ing dick or a good guy

Edited by Darugis: 7/20/2015 12:06:04 AMA lot of factors are taken into account when deciding if a player is good or not. Someone can have less than a 1 kd, but be heavily objective oriented and tries to capture points on the map. On the other end of the spectrum, a player can be conservative and sit back with a high kd, but pay no attention or don't assist with the objective. A good player is one that can play the objective while keeping himself alive and taking down the enemy. Now even if a player has 0 captures, if he is killing around the objective, whether it be on defense or clearing objectives so the team can take the obj, I consider that playing the objective. Because even in a game mode like Control, you need slayers to both rack up points and control the map; you can't win without them. But if someone is just running around killing in an obj game mode when all objectives are taken, then I consider them a bad player. They may have a good K/D, but they can't support their team, while there is someone on their team who finished with a .75 K/D and has 6 captures who was trying to win.

I don't care what your k/d is you still a little bitch
-
I think the most people respect other players that are well-mannered and mature, regardless of their K/D.
-
It honestly just depends on the player, I feel like you can't categorize the two. You got a holes that think their better then everybody else and feel entitled.. No one has sportsmanship and it's terrible; I stream and let all my followers know how much of an ass butt they are. C:

Kids with higher kds are the ones who do not teabag from my experience... the ones who teabag are the 12 year olds who get excited after getting an enforcer medal on you..
-
You have a high K.D mine is very low... Actually lower then low... I don't think you need to respect me
-
TLW/Blink/Shotgun/grenades&horseshoes. I blame streamers for popularising this loadout and Bungie for allowing it to dominate for so long. People are using it because it's a good loadout. And the need to win and keep k/d up seems to stop people experimenting with other loadouts. So for now, get used to the sound of crucible - WHOOSH! TAP-TAP-TAP-TAP! WHOOSH!
-
Team effort is more important. Rather see someone with a low KD changing the game into our team's favor than a higher KD stroking his ego. You play a team type PVP except for Rumble. Play as a team. And freaking communicate!
-
People with crappy K/D get all the good stuff.
-
If blink/shotgun then no respect
-
Most likely.
