Are Higher K/D Players More Respected than Lower K/D Players?

How do you feel about the credibility of a higher K/D players vs a player with a lower K/D? Should a players opinions and views be respected the same regardless of their K/D? Why should K/D be an indication for you to take a player seriously or not? Should it matter? What are you views on the matter? Discuss.

  • I find it odd when a predominantly pve player has a few control games played and their K/D is around 2.0. Like what are you doing mate wasting that talent on patrol???

  • If you play full team PvP (who know who does and who doesn't), KD does not matter. There are typically 2-3 slayers some objective players and some map control players. So no, KD is easy to increase!! Just sit back with a scout or sniper and get 8 kills per game with a high KD.. Most kills in a game is a better indication.. Sadly extremely high game plays are much harder to get since you can't have unlimited heavy ammo (it's only almost unlimited)

  • I think KD is best at showing your weapon skills. If you have a positive KD, you win more gunfights than you lose, meaning you are more skilled than most people you encounter. The higher that KD, the better you are in gunfights. I also think people with high KDs are the only people who i respect when they have opinions on weapon balance. Someone with a negative KD shouldn't be complaining about a particular gun, because the flat out arent beating any guns at all. When a high KD player has an opinion though, it is someone who has the ability to outgun most people, so if they are dying from something a lot, it most likely is overpowered. KD isnt everything, but people with negative KDs are helping the other team more than their own. Always strive to finish with at least a 1 kd, because capturing zones doesn't mean anything if you get 5 kills and 20 deaths.

    • How do you feel about the credibility of a higher K/D players vs a player with a lower K/D? PvE K/D I feel is more indicative of a person. PvP K/D is a joke and worthless, as a large percentage of those with high K/D scores have gotten it through means that people only justify if they use it (such as arc blade, thorn, blinkshotgun, etc.) Should a players opinions and views be respected the same regardless of their K/D? Opinions should be based on how insane it sounds. Usually the more insane an idea, the more fun it is to do. Why should K/D be an indication for you to take a player seriously or not? I don't care about scores, tbh. I care about how the act when they play (If they do something incredibly stupid after being told not to and it gets us killed, yeah they get a tongue-lashing). Should it matter? Shouldn't matter. What are you views on the matter? I've explained above

Yes, ppl love taking shit for face value. However, does a higher k/d mean your better than a guy with a lower k/d? No because on guy might be a camper who rarely dies and goes 6 and 2 every game whereas the other guy goes 30 and 20 but earned 6000+ points in the match. Put simply, ppl will initially respect a guy with a higher k/d more, but that is only because ppl like to look at k/d as a determination for skill. Once they actually play with the guy, only then do hey respect that person how good they actually are on the field.

    • KD means nothing to me, it just proves who actualy cares about it enough to: remake a character (usually a hunter) Leave and join 1000s of games because destiny crucible lag can make the game unplayable for you and your KD might take a hit or they join a game die 3 times without getting a kill so they have to leave Or they get someone to boost them in rumble (there's literally people boosting in about 1/5 of the rumble games I've played ) Or they have poor internet/lag switch to gain an advantage Destiny crucible is to laggy to claim everyone with high KD's are good players. I'm not trying to put down people with high KD's I'm sure some of you are very good players just that KD is no indication of skill I've had arguments with high KD players before the 2 I remember most though are: 1 guy trying to slag me and my KD off because my team beat his at skirmish I kill him 3 times without him getting a kill in the next game (and tea bagged him like hell) he just sent me a rage message then quit Some chump on the forum acting like a PVP god slagging everyone's KD I asked him if he'd got rank 5 iron banner yet (was early in an iron banner week maybe Wednesday/Thursday ) he said he didn't play IB because of lag or shotguns or teammates or some other bullshit. You can't claim to be good if you just bully low levels in crucible Oh I'll save you all the trouble my KD is terrible and if you try to use it to insult me I'll just laugh at your patheticness

      • Doesn't mean a thing to me. A great k/d can be achieved by camping. It's like people who brag about there grimoire score. I'm just like yeah good for you mate you were able to sit and watch videos on YouTube to find all the ghosts congratulations your so awesome!

      • In most cases you can say a higher k/d has a more measured, methodical approach to pvp. I. E i was just in a match with randoms and we where breeching B flag after softening them up. The 2 who charged in before hand got instantly shotgunned/Hawkmooned. The 4 remaining people baited and waited till we had them out of position. Funny thing is i lead the charge in and cleared left, and so did everyone else.... leaving the entirety of the right side shooting us like a shooting gallery unchecked.... Theres radar ffs, y u so stupid!

      • Irrespective of KD we all got it playing in the crucible so our opinions are all valid. Whilst those with a high KD are undoubtedly skilful and experienced you have to bear in mind that (a) some people have played a lot more PvP than others so are likely to have a higher KD due to experience and (b) some players artificially increase their KD by using a lag switch or, basically, cheating. I can use neither as an excuse for my performance lol

      • I respect high K/Ds more, but I don't hate on lower ones because for all I know, it's some poor dude stuck eternally on the thorn bounty.

      • K/d by itself tells you nothing; if someone camped in the very back corner of the map going three and one every game, would you really say they are a good player? Similarly, if a player averaged 40 kills a game with 30 deaths, would you say they are bad? The number of kills you get per game, win ratio, headshot %, assists per game, k/d, caps per game (if applicable) need to be looked at in aggregate.

      • I see most people with a high k/d ratio as people who know the maps really well. I don't play crucible much in destiny but did very well in many shooters in the past because I knew the ins and outs of the maps and guns. Not everyone falls into this category but map knowledge plays a huge factor in this game.

      • As Someone all over the map on K/D and suck in the crucible. I'm more impressed with high kills numbers and a good k/d.

      • People with good K/D's either use shotguns and corner camp or they use high rate of fire sniper rifles. Respect for the snipers, then again I'm a st-gunner who has a 1.00 K/D.

      • Of course. It's like asking a college business student for tax advice vs. asking a professional tax accountant. It also depends on the subject. If you ask both the student and tax professional to opinionate the Reimann Hypothesis and his Zeta Function, neither could offer an opinion worth anything.

      • Yes it matters. It's not the only thing to take into account, but it certainly shouldn't be disregarded.

      • I don't respect people with a K/D higher than 4. That just seems too fishy. Although, they could just have all the best guns, the fastest internet, and the fastest twitch. Uh, not that twitch.

      • Someone with a higher k/d will have more credibility when it comes to opinions in crucible and maybe other things like weapon balance and stuff like that. Other than that I don't think K/d should really matter when it comes to someone's opinion. I know alot of people that absolutely love destiny but aren't the best at it. Can't really be helped much I guess but if someone shows their interest in the game why wouldn't their opinion matter. They spent the money just like I did.
