A Warlock Subclass That Is Best For Me?

I've been questioning if I should stay a Sunsinger or be a Voidwalker again. I like using both subclasses equally, but I think I need some feedback. Here's my playing style I like to use my DPS and regen ability as a nice combo. I usually will stop before a door with a bunch of enemies and pick them off. If needed, I will throw grenades. If I die, I will always try and leave myself in an open spot where my team can revive me. So, based off that information, what subclass should I use? Tell me if you need more information. Note: I know I'm wearing a Heart of the Praxic Fire, but I can switch any time I really want to.

  • For high level PvE content, sun singer is the main choice for the ability to self res as well as the super doing much higher DPS, which increases exponentially with heart of the praxic fire. But for the enjoyment value, I prefer my voidwalker. Setup for voidwalker is: vortex grenade (best by far), focuses burst for the speed, soul rip to keep my nova bomb up, Vortex on the nova bomb since its huge and will provide Both a blockade as well as cover from melee enemies. Stats trying to focus on agility and recovery rather than armor. Vortex mastery for the increase in your nova bomb vortex to keep the blockade lasting longer. Obsidian mind to just spam them and paired with bad juju. Probably the best set up I've used out of all of them.

I think voidwalker if you love your grenades. I personally prefer voidwalker, but in higher level events I'm obviously sunsinger for the self res. If you aren't sure, just do some strike playlists and switch subclasses now and then.

Obsidian Mind. Bad Juju. Blink. (get used to it, you won't regret it) Scatter Grenade or Vortex Shatter nova or Vortex Soul Rip or Life Steal. Annihilate. Bloom or Vortex Mastery. If you're going for Vortex build use every Vortex related ability for maximum potential. side note: aim for max intellect on your stat-bar. Avoid Sunsingers Fireborn, you start to rely on it. Not good.

    • I prefer Voidwalker most of the time. I usually use Sunsinger for Nightfalls and VoG so I can self-resurrect. This video shows my setup for my voidwalker in PvP, which may prove helpful should you try using Voidwalker. It is much more dominant in PvP.

    • I've played and maxxed out both, each has it's Strength's and weakness's. If you do decide Voidwalker grab an Obsidian mind and pair it with a Bad Juju, you will have no shortage of Nova Bombs!, change your stat build to Focus more on INT and Disc, with ammo favoring your preferred Primary/Secondary weapon's. Though i have Skull of Dire Ahamkara i don't notice much greater toughness when using nova bomb so not much use for it in the environment but PvE a slight boost. I prefer Shatter on my Nova Bomb because having the wider blast radius ensures a heavier casualty rate among PvE enemies, combined with Annihilate for an even larger blast area means more targets under the effects of my obsidian mind nova bomb boost! Paired with the third (energy Drain) level perk means I can get my Nova bomb back faster with each Grenade or Melee strike and Guarantee a new nova bomb with as little as 7 enemies in it's radius. The only downside with a voidwalker is your perks are stingy and effect only yourself meaning you have to use your super and grenade abilities to provide Offensive support for your fireteam, this means your best paired with either a Defender(Titan) or even a Sunsinger(Warlock), however a bladedancer can be a good friend as well clearing an area around your fireteam to safely use your Bomb on those more distant foes. Voidwalker has limited base durability I have built mine with Toughness and Speed for my first Attribute and straight toughness for the second, this improves my survival rate though i am slower moving. In this case i suggest either Speed boost glide or The Teleport, plus any weapon which will grant an agility boost, should nearly even everything out! if it doesn't you could always use the healing perk of your Energy Drain Melee for a fast recovery. Sunsinger, Others have already covered this Sub-class very well below me and i would tend to agree, only use fireborn during Nightfalls or Raids though you may already know this, there are much better options for normal strikes/PvP/PvE. Also Remember Some Enemies tend to avoid walking into your DOT Grenades (warlock seems to be the only class with this problem, that i have noticed) In Conclusion I thoroughly enjoy running the Voidwalker as my Primary Sub-class, though i lack Team boosting abilities directly my Nova Bomb Chains can generate enough Orbs to get my allies their supers fairly quickly thus earning me orbs as well....and more Nova Bombs to Chain! My improved Toughness allows me to absorb a little more damage than a lesser Voidwalker though i suffer from a slower movement speed but not much need to run from a Corpse! My particular Build focuses heavily on Auto Rifle Ammo Maxxed INT and High Discipline (though you may choose a different primary), I'm not a back-row fighter, though i have no problem sniping when i must, I prefer my Judgement VI for Close wet-work. I say give the voidwalker another go (may take some getting use to again) but let your own heart decide what works best for you!

I noticed that there isn't all that much data on Song of Flame. Most Sunsinger users get Fireborn and never look back. Its really kind of a selfish way to play and if you have a smart enemy in pvp, he is waiting right there with a shotgun ready to blast you twice and put you down again. I recently started experimenting with Song of Flame in PvP and PvE and realized that it creates an extremely formidable force when running with a fireteam. First, Song of Flame decreases the grenade and melee cooldown abilities for allies within 8 meters from 60 seconds at a 0% Discipline down to 10 seconds. It Decreases cooldown from 28 seconds at 100% discipline down to 5 seconds. That basically means, Melee and Grenade spam for not only you but your whole fireteam. If you have your fireteam running gear that buffs super energy gained from grenade kills, imagine how it builds. They pop a super, drop orbs, you pick them up, pop radiance, throw grenades, build super, drop orbs, throw grenades. After a little bit its nonstop. My build has Crota raid gear with Heart of the Praxic Fire. HoPF further decreases grenade cooldown from 5 seconds to 3.5 seconds for allies. My helmet has the perk that increases super energy gained from grenade kills. My Deathsinger's grip have a perk that reduces melee cooldown when causing damage with a grenade. I have 100% intellect, 79% discipline, and 0% Strength because I feel it is the weakest of the three stats, though with this build I don't really feel a long cooldown at all. For weapons I have Vex Mythoclast as a primary, Swordbreaker as a secondary, and Song of Ir Yut as a heavy. Swordbreaker and Song both have grenade energy gains from kills perks which synergize well and help me build grenades quickly. The more I use my grenades, the faster I build a super. I use the Vex Mythoclast because that synergizes well with the additional fusion rifle ammo perk that HoPF provides. If I ever run out of grenades and super, I just spam Song of Ir Yut and Swordbreaker until I can build grenades and get kills to build my super faster. You could argue that with an organized fireteam, this rivals the bubble-village-golden-gun combo in crucible that has gone viral on the forums and youtube. For Perks I roll Song of Flame, Flame Shield to stay alive longer as a support role, Radiant Will to extend the length of the Song of Flame buff, and Gift of the Sun for extra super energy from grenade kills. Any Sunsinger grenade can be used depending on your situation you need. The support role of the Sunsinger is something that I feel is super underrated. If you don't have Vex Mythoclast, its not the end of the world. Any Other primary will do but Swordbreaker and Song are used for their grenade perks. If you happen to roll a different primary weapon or secondary weapon with that grenade energy perk, you could substitute that. I recently discovered this loadout and its extremely effective when used with a team that runs together. Give this playstyle a try and let me know what you think. It really can be used with any fireteam in any situation as grenades and melee abilities are really good in both PvE and PvP. Its kind of an all purpose, support role sunsinger that makes any group super powerful. Edit: If you have Monte Carlo, that can make up for the low strength stat and use that as a primary as doing damage with that gun dramatically increases the rate at which your melee ability charges. Feel free to look at my warlock build and see what you think.

      • I need to know more. Do you prefer rocket launchers.....or HMGs as your heavy? If you prefer rocket launchers...you'll probably be happiest as a Voidwalker. Because----like RLs----a Voidwalker is built around doing large bursts of damage, very quickly ....ina single area. If you prefer HMGs....stay a Sunsinger. Sunsingers are like HMGs are built around doing large amounts of damage OVER TIME. While allowing you a great diea of flexibility and control over who, what, where, and when that damage gets dealt out. Me...I prefer HMGS....and playing as a Sunsinger. I hate the all-or-nothing nature of being a Voidwalker and its super. Plus I love the room for creativity Radiance leaves you in terms of deciditon how---and where__-to best mete out the damage ou have at your disposal.

      • There's no need to use sunsinger except in nightfalls and some parts of the hard raids. And, void walker makes more orbs for your teammates.

            • I use both! When I play CE on hard I prefer for the Boss fight the voidwalker! Because I can use my close combat attack to give me life back! The Ogre look at me and my Novabomb blow him away! For the pit a voidwalker with Obsidian mind could use the Novabomb every lamp! Sunsinger is also a lot of fun! The super is charged and you can run in the middle of the mobs, maybe with a shotgun and if you die, self rez and Burn down the rest! I hope you'll understand everything because my English isn't that well!
