Yep.
Huge areas to explore.
Varied and interesting quests.
Great story.
Fantastic characters.
Huge variety of guns with fun and unique effects , not just reskins.
Worthwhile DLC.
More varied enemies.
Superior loot system.
Classes are all different and much more varied.
60 fps.
I'm sure I'm missing something but you get the gist of it. How could Bungie take influence from Borderlands but get nothing right?

1. Borderlands and Destiny are fundamentally different games. Borderlands has more in common with Diablo 3 than it does Destiny. 2. Like Diablo 3, Borderlands rigidly controls where you go and what order you play the game it. Which allows you to tell very linear, plot driven stories. In ways that you can't with MMO-style games where players are free to play large parts of the game in pretty random order. 3. Borderlands is an adventure story. Destiny is a WAR story. 4. The graphics in Borderlands are nowhere near as detailed as those in Destiny. IN short, you're comparing apples and oranges. Besides being FPS and loot-based, the two games don't have that much in common.

Superior loot system.
I always lol at this. It just shows how little experience someone has with Borderlands...

5 RepliesI don't really consider Destiny the same as Borderlands. Borderlands has a story that has depth, where Destiny has one that seems like a 12 year old child wrote it, and poorly as well. Many people mock Destiny for being empty, and they have the right to do so, since it is devoid of content unless you're willing to fork over ~$20-$40 for on disc DLC. Let's face it: Bungie pulled a Capcom and did on disc locked content. Borderlands 1/2 had DLC as well, I'll give them that. But it wasn't content that was already on the disc. Everyone could tell that it wasn't for Borderlands, while every single person who bought Destiny could tell the very second they opened the box that they would have on disc locked content. I "like" Destiny because I can spend time bonding with my cousin while we play together. However, Destiny is pretty much a $60 game that honestly should have been $35 at the most. It's not a good game and is a Bungie ripoff of Borderlands.

My thoughts exactly, haven't touched destiny since borderlands was released. Fvck the weekly reset and new DLC. I've been saying it for months, the only reason destiny is still standing is the lack of other games out right now.

4 RepliesThey got one thing right, and it's Borderland's biggest flaw: no duping. I can't tell you how many buddies got bored playing BL because they got all their dream items overnight.

3 RepliesEdited by Alpha: 3/26/2015 6:36:34 AMHaven't played Destiny since the beta, but as someone who has around 1200 hours in BL2, I think that you're either looking for a reason to hate Destiny, or the novelty of Borderlands is getting to you.
Huge variety of guns with fun and unique effects , not just reskins.
This in particular is something that I don't agree with. Once you know every gun part by sight, you realize how samey every gun in the game is. In reality, every weapon of a type that's made by the same manufacturer is a reskin, with the 150 or legendary/seraph/pearlescent/unique items being the only truly unique ones. While the different appearances of parts gives it novelty at first, this'll wear off once you finish a couple playthroughs.
Varied and interesting quests.
Uh, what? It's an FPS, it's always go here and shoot this. The gunplay is well done, so shooting whatever you need to isn't necessarily boring, but trying to make borderlands' quests seem deep and interesting is kinda wrong.
Superior loot system.
Putting aside how both games require you to just grind for items you want, the most annoying part of Borderland's loot system for me is how many of the best guns in the game are unique one-time only quest rewards that have no other drop location. Furthermore, while you don't appear to have an option in choosing what you get in Destiny, at least there's the solace that whatever you get will be able to kill things somewhat efficiently. Many of the legendary weapons in borderlands only have a novelty effect, and are often worse than their purple counterparts (infinity, gub, volcano, wanderlust).
Worthwhile DLC
Look, I don't know how people think about destiny's dlc, but Hammerlock's hunt and the Underdome both are pretty lacking in content.

Edited by Jphn_33: 3/27/2015 6:28:46 PMTBH, killing the same enemies in Destiny over and over is more satisfying than the same thing in Borderlands 2 Plus, there's actually a ton of hidden lore in the very well-designed levels. Levels are still tiny, though, but going through them time and again helps you notice some things. Mostly because you're bored of the same area over and over.

5 RepliesIs there a pvp system to that game? Any competitiveness? (Not sarcastic)

3 RepliesI think they just needed to plan their DLC releases better. Dark Below came out around 3 months after release, and there was a lot more to get done from release to Dark Below release. Now they are expecting the player base to play Dark Below for close to 6 months until HoW is released? Borderlands was right around every 3 months and the DLC had a little more content to offer. It's all a learning experience for Bungie though. Destiny certainly isn't a Halo. Multiplayer just isn't close to being the same.

4 RepliesVaried quests? They are all either 'Go here and kill this' or 'Go there, get that and bring it back'. 😕

This game is great! Because REASONS!

I have borderlands but don't enjoy it. I prefer destiny for gameplay controls and visuals. I like borderlands humour and story but it's not enough because I get annoyed with the clunky controls and unclear visuals. I prefer halo to both
