KDR does not prove how well you play in CRUCIBLE

Im sorry it doesn't and for all of those who think it does, you're terribly wrong. Does my KDR show how many wins i have NO Does KDR prove that i play the objective NO, well yes kinda in the sense that I put myself in more difficult situations to control the game/win and the side-effect being I die more often than the average camper KDR extraordinaire ALL HAIL K0Z EDIT: I want to point out that as a roomate to 4 others, I am not the only one to play my account and as much as i hate excuses it definitely has some pull mainly because my friends suck haha EDIT: Im not saying KD doesnt matter at all....IT DOES...what im saying is its not the sole indication of a player's skill for all those who keep throwing this in my face EDIT: well it looks like from everyone's response...majority agreed that KDR is not the sole indication of skill. EDIT: I feel like a lot of people are taking this post the wrong way and are now challenging me to rumble games......THATS NOT THE POINT OF THIS.....if anything add my gt: k0hzey on Xbox 1 and if you guys truly want to PVP and WIN add me to your fireteam I love playing with a team who knows what theyre doing, how to control the map, and rotate spawns.....if this looks like chinese to you then you have no reason to be on this post. I've played competitive call of duty for about 5 years now and mostly MLG so I know how to adapt to spawn changes and properly rotating around the map. I stress again if youre a PVP player and are always looking to team up for games msg me, add me, id love to play with an organized team again GT: k0hzey (Thats a zero) EDIT: Ok so im looking at my stats on DTR and my overall DTR in crucible is the top 20% Kill, wins, and assists in he top 20% as well AND game score is in the top 15% From these numbers alone it should indicate that regardless of KD, my overall performance in crucible is way above average in the top 20% and thats just from one character and the limited play time I have each day....any more arguments about my skill please id love to hear em! I Thank you HAIL K0Z

    • Exactly I would take a death to insure a control point captured. But people with higher a kd are usually better do you want your team to have 2.0 or 0.5?

    • Well, it depends on the game type I guess. Control, for example, requires you to get kills to score points. If the enemy kills you, they get points. So, getting a lot of kills and not dying a lot can certainly help if you play control. A high kdr helps in that case.

    • It doesn't prove it, but there's a definite and strong correlation.

      • I agree with you OP K/D is a factor in scoping a players ability but is still merely a statistic. There are other factors that need to be observed to guage a players skill. Me I know I have a negative score and I know some would address me as a "scrub", but even the meak are deadly on a good day, and every self proclaimed crucible master has a bad day. My bullets are just as deadly and my melee just as punishing!

Do you know what happens when three people like you go against three people like me? In a skirmish match that would be 5000-0. KD is not the only thing people should look at. Everyone knows that. Also note that almost every destinytracker stat is so called no life stat. It tells you how MUCH you have played. I have noticed pretty much everyone crying how KD doesnt matter are trash. If you are good enough, keeping atleast constant 2.0 KD is NOT DIFFICULT. Trash cant do it and comes here in tears.

        • I concur. k/d measures your overall career, not skill. You could be the best player in Destiny, but you mess around so much that you have a k/d of -1.00 And when the need arises, you'd play like the Chuck Norris of gaming. (But never as good as SmoggyPluto, of course)

        • True. Getting two kills and zero deaths per match when joining the match in the beginning doesn't make you good.

        • i would agree with you if destiny truly had objective game types which they dont. All of the game types are based off of kills besides maybe salvage so kdr matters more here than most other games.

        • There are 2 types of people with high KD. Either they are the KD whores who camp to keep a good KD. Or a person who plays normally getting kills and capping objectives and winning most of their gun fights, thus granting a high KD and combat rating. I hate how people assume every person with high KD camps in one area with a sniper or something.

          • Of course k/d isn't the only metric of player skill, but it's still pretty damn important. The question is how you got and maintained that k/d. For example, I looked this guy up yesterday who had posted on the forums. It was another, is my k/d good type of post. His k/d was around 1.5, my k/d by comparison is 1.3. Most of our other stats were similar (average points per game, average kills per game). But when I compared my stats to his on destinytracker.com I could tell by his playlist scores and combat rating that he quit a lot of games to maintain his high k/d. So, who's really the better player? I don't care either way. I don't think my 1.3 is great. I think that's solid, holds his own, territory. Add that to the fact that I am not an idiot and am able to think tactically about what points to control on a map, I normally think of myself as an asset, regardless where I fall on the scoreboard. But I also don't make excuses for it. My k/d is what it is. I am likely as good at PvP in this game as I will ever be, and that's fine. Some people are natural athletes. Some people are natural gamers. Life, being a cruel mistress, made me neither of those things.

            • Your final edit about DTR fails to take into consideration that those percentages are based only on those people who have chosen to upload their stats to that particular database, it is not indicative of the whole community and arguably more people have played destiny than have uploaded their stats. Kdr is an important judge of a players skill level but it is not the only important factor. Offensive and defensive kills are important for judging what type of player you are up against and undoubtedly a high kd with mostly offensive kills is going to be a good player and conversely a high kd defensive player is probably not going to die often although may not kill a lot. None of this counts in clash where stats are harder to determine at a glance. Ultimately an average player is going to get a higher kd over time based on things like a declining or newly established player base, and familiarity with maps.

              • I play clash, so k/d is the only measure (unless you want to argue for k+a/d) of skill. Even in objective gametypes, k/d is crucial. The more enemies you kill, the more time they spend waiting to respawn. They're sitting there waiting to spawn back in while your team has map control and gets the heavy drops.

              • I agree 100%. Stats don't tell the complete story. I recently played against someone with a 2 KD, and he was ranked 200th in the world in overall score. I completely rocked him twice in doubles skirmish, and he was using TLW, an efrideets spear w/final round, and some rocket launcher. Meanwhile I was using my MIDA, invisible hand, and one way ticket. I was also on my defender Titan, which is arguably the worst Pvp class in destiny. After checking his stats on the DTR, I actually laughed. His favorite weapons were the SUROS, Vex, TLW, and thorn. I even went to check out his performance in one of the games, and I found that he killed me 6 times with the spear, but only got 2 head shots. However, he got a one shot kill with it every single time. In other words, he's a pathetic sniper who needs final round to actually get any kills. Utterly disgusting.

              • KDR shows the individual success at killing more and dying less which is the main point of playing PvP isn't it? Zones are good an all but killing opponents will get you the most points. Granted the team with the most kills don't always win the match but most of the time they do. I'd rather have a guy who doesn't die and gets kills than a guy who goes on kamikaze runs just to cap a zone

                • Here's a way to ruin your kdr and help your team win. Firebase Delphi. Go in lone wolf, pick off two people to capture the coveted A, die and then your teammates show up. Lol. Some of the best game I have are when I'm on sync with team mates even without talking. When I have a hard time is when people cap c and then die repeatedly going for b. And if you do capture A it's usually up to you to hold it because everyone else is busy in the middle kill room. While I may not have killed as many I held the spawn point and allowed you to rack up kills.

                  • K/D gives a feel of a persons skill but since most suck at first like I did, its hard to get it back up to show how good you really are. I average higher then what I have so you're right on it not being the only indication of skill.
