If you are hurting for gear, do every pve bounty every day that you can play to boost rep with the vanguard to rank 3 or higher for commendations and chances for a package containing gear. Run ROC strikes to get marks maxed out and when you've got enough, buy vendor armor and max it. At level 30 or 31, follow these instructions in this order: First, look up some videos and guides to crotas end. Don't just use a text based guide or you'll get lost as all hell in the first section of the raid (abyss). Don't go into the raid with no knowledge of it unless you find a group willing to teach a very green player. Second, once you have a basic understanding of the strategies and concepts of the raid, find a competent raid group who will run crota with you and get you some first hand experience and gear drops to bring you up to 32 (look me up if you're on PSN. Just joined one myself a couple of weeks ago). Third, work on IB when it comes around. You don't HAVE to play all week. Just schedule out some time in the weekend and focus your attention on glimmer farming throughout the beginning of that week (you'll want to reach the glimmer cap). Do this even if they aren't selling something you want or need (and in this case, focus your efforts on purchasing the emblem, shader and class item for IB as each of them increase your rep gain for each win and bounty completion. This will prepare you for the next IB and also give you a chance with IB at rank 3 or higher to receive any IB item sold by the vendor in the last IB event as a reward at the end of the match).
