Clown College...JK. What would probably help you out most is to message a bungie employee in the field that you want to go into to get their advice. They've reached the top, so to speak, so they must know the way to get there.

Don't aim low. Go to the top. Pick Microsoft. Microsoft is exclusive. They only consider people with at least a master's in Stanford, Harvard, and MIT. But it is a well-paying job and I plan to eventually hope to be part of microsoft's next Launch Team. I hope to work not in networking but the Xbox Software. I might go to Bungie after graduating Stanford, Microsoft, or MIT (I have a scholarship for two out of the 3) and that wil allow me to build my way up to Microsoft. For example, Frankie, led is now part of the Microsoft Team. I might even start my own company. [Edited on 08.31.2008 4:11 PM PDT]

1. i love halo 3 and the halo 3 fanbase so i would like to be able to interact with them a little more 2. bungie is the only job that will help me take over the world. 3. bungie is the nicest company and they actually help thier fans so i would like to be apart of that as well

Why Bungie? They're not even all that great. Why not Valve? They're pretty much above the rest of the gaming industry when it comes to games. Epic on the other hand just demolishes with their engine and multiplayer skillz. There are plenty of other good companies and some of them are way better than Bungie. Anyways, if you want to do something artsy for them, then you'd probably want to go to a design school. It doesn't have to be a private one though, some state schools offer 3D modeling and design. But if you really want to get into that, you need to start learning the programs now. They're going to ask you for a portfolio of what you've done, anything ranging from 2D and 3D. And if you have no artistic talent what-so-ever, then don't even bother applying. If anything, you could always become a security guard.

WHat do you want to do for Bungie? <~~~~~~Answer that first If it is anything artistic, your portfolio is your calling card, they may require an associates in applied science (standard) for an entry level position.

ITT tech is a really good school.

i dont like how theres a bunch of people in this thread with the same symbol as me wtf!

I bet the competition to get into Bungie is as high as a proffesional football team. Good Luck and all but, But depends what your going to major in, any bigname colleges would get you noticed though.

Here's a few "Bungie answers" revolving around you question:
Posted by: JonnyOThan A great way to get into the game industry (in any role) is to make mods for existing games (not illegally). Many, many Bungie employees got their start making mods for Marathon, Myth, and other stuff. For programming, there are a lot of great free resources out there to help get you started, like XNA.

Posted by: ferrex
Posted by: Recon General I don't know but I have a statement from someone who does: A: Build your portfolio. If you’re an artist, make lots of art. If you’re a programmer, write lots of good code. Finish your projects. Get involved in the PC modding community – you’ll likely learn a lot.
That. Sharpen your critical thinking skills. Writing, rhetoric, and other communication skills range from helpful to essential. Be perfectly at ease with computers. Most of the actual technical skills your job will entail will be specific to the job you're doing, and you will be taught those things on the job. Be wary of "Game Design Degrees". They don't carry much weight--your individual portfolio is much more convincing, and reveals more about your talent and motivation than a degree from a diploma mill.
Also read this
Posted by: manateeeeeeeeeee Full Sail University in either Florida or California. They are probably the number 1 game design school in the country. It is extremely expensive, and an 8-hour a day college. You will receive a bachelor's degree in a little under or over 2 years. It costs about 103,000 for it, but on the first day you will receive a MacBook Pro (a 3,000 dollar computer.) and Studio Pro 2.0 (a 2,000 dollar editing program that includes a music mixing program, an image editing program, a 3D editing program, and a video editing program, as well as a bunch of other stuff.) and I am pretty sure you get Photoshop CS 3.0 as well.
Don't forget DigiPen in Redmond, Washington!!! Both very good schools for game stuff.
-
It doesn't really matter. Game companies want experience more than anything. The college you go to is just to help you in a particular field and develop your skills. If you want to be hired by a game developer, get what you need out of a school and just work hard at your goals. Come in with a passion for what you do, a good resume, and a kick-ass demo. And I wish you good luck!
Posted by: xBlood Devilx they've reached there peak with what is known as the greatest video game trilogy ever
(rolls on the floor laughing out loudly)
-
You don't have to go to a video game development school to get into the industry though. Graphic animators, storyboard artists, managers, programmers are all people that are needed in the world of video games. While I think the video game schools are a great stepping stone (I go to one) I do think they also try and cram so much of everything into the entire curriculum that you end up losing a little bit as opposed to somebody who goes to school for programming and then uses his knowledge in the video game realm.

Although I don't see how anyone will be able to pay off 100 thousand dollars, unless they are super rich. [Edited on 08.31.2008 11:08 AM PDT]
