This video blew my mind. If this is true it could mean destiny has an epic storyline after all!

1 ReplyBungie community isn't happy if it's not spoonfed to them. You may need to summarise in advance.

5 RepliesEdited by HEL1UM3: 3/23/2015 8:30:07 AMWARNING: Spoilers to the video in the below. Read at your own risk.... I like this theory a lot. A question was raised on YouTube about the Vex and that they also travel through and have control of time. My thought (which I posted there) is that perhaps the Vex are an extension of one of the remaining Warminds that are against the Traveler (who is actually Rasputin) and thus they exist outside time and are able to travel through time in an effort to avoid the alterations to the timeline the Rasputin as the Traveler are trying to bring to being, that mainly being the restoration of humanity by avoiding the collapse. If the Vex are an extension of one of the remaining Warminds, then it could by using the Vex in the simulation constantly force the causal loop of war and the collapse to stop Rasputin/The Traveler from changing the timeline to allow humanity to survive. This could also mean the other enemies such as the Fallen, the Hive, the Cabal are representations of the other Warminds within the simulation. So, if this is a simulation and Rasputin is a manifestation of The Traveler, then further raises the question that are the Fallen, Vex, Cabal and Hive are also the representations of other Warminds within the simulation? Oryx could be the actual representation of a Warmind that manifests itself with the Hive as its agents hence him being referred to as a God for the Hive. Similarly, the Vex, the Fallen and the Cabal could have similar deities or divinities that will manifest in the Destiny simulation. It could also be why the individual forms of the "darkness" are so different from each other as each one is the individual manifestation of a different Warmind. It might also explain why they fight each other as well as the wrestle for control of the simulation and eventual control over the physical world. So then a few questions for me: 1) Are The Awoken of the Reef "awoken" to the fact that the current reality is a simulation? 2) If these are various representation of different Warmind's, that 5 accounted for, what are the remaining doing? Were they destroyed, defeated or are we yet to see them manifest into the simulation? It certainly fits what could be an much larger over arching story and one that fits with recent theories about simulations etc. I like it.

"Rasputin travels backwards in time to save humanity but there's a catch: He is a warmind and with him comes war." Lol, wtf. XD

I think we should separate lore and story. The lore is bad ass, but is told in cards outside the game. The story is bunk. But here's to hoping.

Edited by Olórin: 3/24/2015 10:18:28 AMDestiny is suppose to have a really good storyline.... The main game just got chopped up so much (into DLC) that it went from being game of the century to game of the week.

Destiny has awesome lore. The story line has yet to even start so I can't judge it yet. We are basically in the first chapter of the book now

1 ReplyI thought of it like this: The Traveler is an evil being that seeks out inhabited worlds to infect with its "Light" and grow more powerful, like a virus the light spreads to all living things growing until all the light gets absorbed back into the traveler when its ready to move on. This is the Collapse caused by the traveler draining all the light from our world in preparation to depart. Only the Traveler didn't leave this time because of the War minds like Rasputin who recognized the threat and launched an all out offensive against the Traveler crippling it. Then there is The Darkness, which is actually the remnants of the alien races the Traveler has destroyed that follow behind the great ball of light picking at the remains of the worlds the Traveler visits. They aren't evil parse more like rabid scavengers following in the path of destruction. The Traveler recognizes that it is surrounded on all sides by foes and creates the Guardians, literally raising the dead up to defend itself these beings have no memory and only 1 order, push back the darkness and defend the traveler. Who gives them this order? Why the Speaker, who is actually just a manifestation of the Traveler itself. That's my theory pieced together from other theories ive heard. Opinions? Wall of Text? TLDR: Traveler is evil, Guardians are being tricked, Darkness is travelers leftover come back like heartburn.

1 Reply"If this is true" is where the problem lies. We are forced to attempt to fill in the blanks with veiled references and pieces from grimore cards when there was ample opportunity for the game to actually explain the situation. We could find hundreds, if not thousands, of different interpretations to the loosely stated story and all of them be wrong. This is just another in a long line of fan fiction trying to make up for a nonexistent story line to compensate for the exhaustive amount of time we spend on this game.

Interesting

What if the entire point of destiny is for us, the players, to create our own story based on things like grimoire cards and vague references, it leaves an endless opportunity for creative and imaginative ideas, people in my opinion are underestimating what bungie have planned
