Using theater mode and screenshots and Bnet and two to three programs I made these animated Gif. files for you to enjoy and use. I was bored. Feedback please. I'll make more soon. Let me know if a link gets broken thanks...
And the vertical ones work good on cell phone with the wide screens as a animated wallpaper (if supported). I have the Fire & Ice one on my LG voyager phone. Looks cool animated backgrounds...

______________TUTORIAL_____________
Where to begin? How about a definition:
The Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) is an bitmap image format that was introduced by CompuServe in 1987 and has since come into widespread usage on the World Wide Web due to its wide support and portability.
The format supports up to 8 bits per pixel, allowing a single image to reference a palette of up to 256 distinct colors chosen from the 24-bit RGB color space. It also supports animations and allows a separate palette of 256 colors for each frame. The color limitation makes the GIF format unsuitable for reproducing color photographs and other images with continuous color, but it is well-suited for more simple images such as graphics or logos with solid areas of color.
GIF images are compressed using the Lempel-Ziv-Welch (LZW) lossless data compression technique to reduce the file size without degrading the visual quality. This compression technique was patented in 1985. Controversy over the licensing agreement between the patent holder, Unisys, and CompuServe in 1994 inspired the development of the Portable Network Graphics (PNG) standard; since then all the relevant patents have expired.
Still have your attention? Good! Now the real deal.....
You need:
1. Xbox 360
2. Halo 3
3. Bungie.net account (if you are seeing this, you probably have this)
4. Microsoft Animator
5.Graphics converter
6. Imagination
____________________________________________________
It's like making a cartoon. You are taking pictures as you pause frame by frame in theater mode and when the pages are flipped, you see motion.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
-----Basic & Simple Explanation------
Take screenshots + download them to PC + Convert Jpeg's to GIF IMAGE + Insert GIF's into Animator = animated awesomeness
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Limits to remember
If you can't remember come back if you run into trouble or just PM me
1. You can only save 50 screenshots on your xbox per profile.
1a Once you reach this limit you will have to leave your film and lose your position in space
1b Your Bnet account only saves your 30 most recent screenshots.
1c But in practice you can take 30 shots in theatre go to bnet and download them then take 20 more before you have to leave the film when your 50 limit is reached. Then download your 20 remaining shots.
2. Don't drink too much caffeine.
2a An itchy trigger finger will squeeze the trigger too hard and you will pass too many frames and you animation will look choppy. Like this one
3.Sometimes your Bnet library will have pictures out of order.
3a Be sure to download them in order! Example: Forge 001 Forge 002 Forge 003 etc.
3b The actual number of the file such as 51838632-Full when you download is NOT ALWAYS IN ORDER. GO BY THE NAME such as Forge 002 etc. these are in correct sequence.
You could also use your gallery if you are desperate for space. Giving you 20 more. If it's worth the time to you.
------------------ The low down The Process "I need a Weapon"--------------
1.Create a clip you want to animate. This clip will be no longer than a second or two.
Try a simple one to start (about 10 frames to get a feel for the process)
2.Pick a starting point and take your first screenshot. Autoname and save is quicker.
****Warning***** If you Squeeze too hard ,you will probably have to start over
3. Now the tricky part. Slowly advance the clip Rt Trigger about 1 to 3 frames. take shot
4. Repeat step 3 until you've reached the end of your action ie. BR firing into an elites head
5. Go to Bungie.net (here) and go to your screenshots and download them to a new folder
6. Now you have to change the downloaded images to gif format using Easy graphic Converter 1.2 (from above). I prefer output to 320x240. It's up to you experiment.
Save the gifs to their own folder.
7. Put these output images in order into the Gif animator. Hit play. Make adjustment by giving each clip a 5-20 1/100's of a sec under the image tab.
8. Make sure it's not playing in reverse. Or just resort the folder and try again.
9. Make sure to click loop and repeat forever under animations tab before you save you clip.
I haven't played with the options tab .....yet But under animations you can resize you image again if you didn't already with the graphics converter. and again the images tab has the loops and "forever mode" and some other thingy's I didn't play with yet.
The possibilities are limitless if you decide to photoshop some of your images before you convert them and animate them.
Please up load to photobucket or you preference and share you creations here. I'd like to see them. Maybe some funny accidents with the animator too.

That would be neat. I didn't know you could actually see bullets? I might be able to photoshop a bullet into it. I'm going to make a Tbag Gif today then work on the bullet one. For the first time in ages...I've actually been unsuccessful in finding the source :(

The one called TheCoolestGifEver.gif looks great. I would consider that as a forum sig but it would probably slow down the page. Somone should make a similar one but without the H2 label. That would be even greater. It just has to say Halo or nothing at all. [Edited on 08.30.2008 5:21 PM PDT]
Posted by: SonicJohn [Thread Saved] So that I can watch your progress and watch as you improve your work as you go. Excellent job so far. They may be slightly low on the frame-rate side of things, but they work at least ;)
Yea the 1st one was 10 frames, the 2nd one was about 30+, at this rate the next one should be about 100 frames lol. The wide vertical ones are harder. I have to rotate each frame manually in MS paint lol. Well I'm off to play some SWAT in matchmaking. I'll do another one tomorrow.
