We all have our favourite games but do gamers need to be more open minded.
We may prefer a certain console or franchise but does this cloud our minds when discussing other options.
Whiles reading through these forums you cant help but pick up on people's hating and bashing on others purely basics on a game or systems they prefer.
Isn't is just time we just enjoyed all that is gaming

1 ReplyIt's been going on since forever. Before video games existed, it was "Ford vs Chevy" or "Marvel vs DC" etc. As long as people have mass produced stuff to worship, they will always pick a side.

1 ReplyEdited by Tu Chocolate Caliente: 3/21/2015 12:52:41 AMThe fanboys aren't destroying the gaming industry at all but they are a toxic side effect the of it. As for the rest of the thread i agree, they should stop being so childish. What's actually destroying the industry: 1.Remastered young games 2. Broken games 3. Undeveloped games 4. Locked-DLC disk content 5. Lazy devs 6. Exclusive DLC from a multiplatform games 7. Pre-orders 8. Turning great multiplatform games into Exclusives (Street Fighter V, Bayonetta 2, Rise of the Tomb Raider) 9. Overuse of the Microtransactions idea 10. Day one DLC -The gaming idustry isn't going anywhere, what it means when people say it's dying it's because it's gonna turn into some sort of monopoly for the consumer if those practices keep flowing. Competition needs to thrive between companies to maintain a balance but it's getting out of hand, turninf what we fear most into reality.

The gaming industry is ruining itself
-
Nah, just the gaming community lol.
-
Ps4 is = to xbone
-
No, because do you think gaming companies even give a shit about console wars? They will release to what new system is out regardless of what a bunch of cry babies think or say.
-
It's annoying yes, but it's been happening since the Nintendo and Sega days. Seeing as the industry is still going strong (however recent releases are showing otherwise) i'd say no. Not to say that Fanboying is good though. It really clouds your judgement on games that could really be amazing, all because of a different coloured system and UI. It's just like how #Destiny is to the Flood, as Fanboys are to gaming. They're just a bad part of it.
-
It's debatable, as fans can like a game, buy it, and no harm. But when it turns into just a blind il buy anything with ~~~ name on it mentality (Cough destiny cough) then it's started setting trends like how 80% of games to come out in 6 months are all crap that all share similar trends becuse it sells.

Edited by Pay Twice: 4/14/2015 2:52:56 AMThere has already been fanboyism for around a decade now so no.
-
There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a fanboy. Fanboys are actually good for the economy. GTA V grossed $1,000,000,000 in three days. With about 9% sales tax, the government makes about $4.50 per copy. $1,000,000,000 divided by $60 is 16,666,666 copies. 16,666,666X$4.50 is $74,999,97. $74,999,97 is about how much money the government made jut from GTA V. There's no way that a bunch of GTA fanboys didn't buy this game on release. At lease 10% of those sales were fanboys.

2 RepliesEdited by sample text: 3/22/2015 12:13:06 AMOh shit double posted

Yes lol
-
3 RepliesYes, if everyone could just agree that halo is the superior franchise, all would be solved.
please stop making these threads, even if you understand that console wars are pointless. It's been made before
Fanboyism ruins any competitive open market.
-
So how is it ruining the gaming industry exactly? You didn't explain in your OP. Fanboyism has been a thing for like, ever. Get over it.
-
To companies it seems that fanboyism and console wars are actually beneficial to them. To us gamers, its just tearing us apart as a community and making us all basically into politicians yelling at each other over stupid sh!t. Fvck, modern gaming led to livestreaming, haters led to swatting livestreamers and some regular people playing games on their own. A guy livestreaming runescape had to see a gun pointed at his lil brothers head a few months ago because of how far one of all the extremists in our community go. :\
-
Yes and no. Fanboyism leads to remasters and sequels, which can be bad (tomb raider remaster) or good (GTA V remaster). Sequels are also sweet in most cases (half life 2)
-
Fanboyism has always been in gaming, so no.
-
To an extent. Customer loyalty isn't a bad thing. It's blind customer loyalty that creates problems.
-
Only the CoD fanboys cause they trash talk anything that isn't CoD. But other than that its fine.
-

-
Ruining these forums, for sure.
-
1 ReplyNah. Money is doing a perfectly good job of that by itself.
-
2 RepliesI'll be completely honest with you, it's probably fanboys that are keeping one side of the industry from monopolizing the other.

Edited by Reign of Bane: 3/20/2015 8:37:25 PM*Scratches head* Seems you are no fool after all, I think it's fine to have a favoured game or franchise as long as you can remain objective. I agree with you that fanboyism needs to die a death. The console wars here need to stop, it's childish and mind numbing. We are all gamers after all, no matter which bit of plastic we choose to own. Why not just get on with one another and game on? I fully support this thread, Good man. Boing, Boing!
