Guys only play Destiny with girls, only because they're girls?

This is probably the first forum post I've ever made openly saying that I'm a girl (wow a girl no way what's that!) Anyways, normally I wouldn't really care, nor would I say anything if it was a one time thing, but on multiple occasions have I been told that the only reason I get into groups/my raid/PoE/anything group keeps me around, is not because I'm good/bad at the game, but for the fact that I'm a girl. No matter what I do, things always seem to come down to the fact it's because I'm a girl. Go flawless in Trials? It's because I got carried for being a female. Get accepted into a raid group? Run sword for someone, get thanked for it? Has to be because I'm female. Do anything? Better bet it's cause I'm a female. Basically what I'm saying is, to any other females on destiny, has anyone ever said these things to you? Guys, what do you think about this? EDIT dang, it seems some of you have taken my post the wrong way. I'm not saying that I should be thanked for running raids with people, although a thank you is nice here and there, I posted this in curiosity of others opinions, I know that I'm obviously not the only girl on Destiny. Thanks ~('-')~ EDIT 2 - I've noticed that some of you think I believe I should be noticed and thanked because I am a girl, that is in no way the case at all! Infact I hate getting treated differently. Many people are telling me to get new friends, my raid team is great, the people I was talking about, I either don't talk to anymore, and the other one isn't part of my raid group, he's just a friend. I've also noticed that some of you are posting your gamertags/want us to run hard crota with you, sadly I am only on 360. My GT is Kat Sphinx. I do have xbox one but I never play it, as I have barely any friends on there :) I finally got around to reading most of the replies. No. I am not an attention whore, and no I don't believe I should be treated different for being a girl. This post was to get the communities OPINIONS on the matter. I'm not trying to start fights, I'm seeing others OPINIONS. Yes I realize I get thanked for running sword because, well, it's sword. Not because I'm a female. I'm just repeating what my friend told me. Please keep the hate to a minimum and realize I'm not trying to start fights..

I don't meet alot of other women on Destiny, but none of them have ever felt that way. I have never felt that way. I have a friend who is also a woman and plays on a different console. She doesn't feel this way. It makes me believe all of these "girl plays Destiny" posts are just bored man trolls trying to stir shit up. If these posts are from women, I would ask you to please stop these posts. This gives a bad name to all female gamers; most of us dont give a shit. This actually promotes sexism. The only time I've really experienced sexism in videogames was while playing free for all on CoD way back when (WaW was the bomb). Other players starting saying crap like I must be a fat ugly lesbian (I was kicking their asses BAD, lol). I just laughed and messed with them even harder. The pack leader ended up putting his wife on the mic to prove to me he wasn't a virgin, hahaha. I proceeded to tell her how lucky she is to have a loser for a husband who likes to call 16 year old girls fat and ugly over the internet and told her she should take pride in her choice of men. I told her I hoped they'd have a baby girl together so he could teach her how a lady should be treated. Needless to say, I heard a lot of screaming through his mic and then he went offline. I told his friends that their buddy was pussy whipped and chunked up the deuce, lol.

      • Lets just see if I get ya: 1. you claim to be a girl 2. You claim that on multiple occasions you are told that you are with them cuz you are a girl (skill don't matter) 3. you claim people thank you and not your friend from running a raid for them. that about sums it up. so to critique what you wrote. 1. claiming that you are male or female makes no difference overall but it clearly matters to you (or so it seems). Personally I think that the side effect of the gamer gate shenanigans are still around. 2. So if the team keeps you with them just because you are a girl, may mean multiple things but i'll generalize a bit, a - they are underage virgins that never had a real relationship. You server for them to learn how to talk to a girl. b - you actually have some skill and they would rather have someone like you rather then a random that would prolong a templar fight 3 times c - you are better them them and they are afraid to admit it. though these general categories may be slightly off it may be within some limits. That is assuming you are not real life friends for which non apply. 3. That is usually the case where one gets the thanks and the other gets the ..... overall given that you can complete raid for others, I will assume that you do possess some skill, such that having you on a raidteam would only be a contribution. If you are in a mature raidteam then you gender does not matter. All that matters is that everyone has fun. If you don't like how you are treated which some may interpret it in such a way, then leave the group and find another, trust me there are plenty of groups that are decent. So long as you have fun guardian, all shall be well.

        • I don't understand how people could discriminate/favor you because you're (at least partially) anonymous. They wouldn't know your gender by looking at their friends list. Also, at least personally, most of the friends I have I find through LFG and keep them on the list whether they're bad or not. I'd say your friend is just jealous that you got thanked and be didn't. Youdid after all run the sword, and he might be trying to undermine you. But that's just me.

        • Im a female as well... that being said, I do understand your post. I personally like to play with coworkers or just stick to a small group that i know wont make a big deal about me being there. They treat me like one of the guys. I have had some people on my friends list freak out when they find out I'm a girl... and start acting very differently towards me. Ive deleted a few guys who were over the top constantly spamming me with party invites and calling me "baby". If i join raids i usually don't talk much ... but I'm usually a quiet person in general. But ... there are a lot of mature players out there that don't care about gender as long as you can hold your own.

        • I'm a girl too. And generally, the boys online done know how to handle it. I've stopped raiding and only play crucible with people I know well and have played with several times. Once they're hidden behind a mic and a tv screen, people turn into incredible assholes sometimes.

          • I did not read all the comments below. In my group we have a few female players and no one treats them any different. It sounds to me that you may need to be more selective on who you run with. If they don't know how to act around a person then they need to grow up a little more or just get some more friends that are women. Just ignore any haters or smack talkers or idiots. Seriously don't even respond to them and waste your time, that you cannot get back on some idiot. Or give them some random nice comment and end it with a smile pisses them off more. :) Don't feed the trolls. Too bad we're not on XB360 or we would try you out. Good job on running the sword for people my group does the same.

          • My experience has been a little different. Most men don't mind when I play with them, and I don't get treated differently than any other player. I make crass jokes just like they do, I cuss like a sailor when I get blind-sided by those door spawning Knights in the Raid, and I don't get "preferential revives" if I go down. When I first join a random Raid team (if my usual teammates aren't online), it's always full of men and everyone gets quiet. It just takes a few jokes for everyone to loosen up, and then everything is fine from there out. There was one instance in a Hard Raid in the last section with Crota where I accidentally landed a critical hit with my Icebreaker on one of the Knights (I was aiming for his chest to get his health down for the orbs glitch), and immediately apologized for being a total ass. Our team leader, who, just a match before, reamed someone for doing the same thing, said "hey, no big deal". Everyone else on the team called him out for letting me off of the hook, and then he apologized to me for it!!! I would rather be treated just like everyone else, especially if I was being an idiot. So to answer your question: no, I don't think players go out of their way to friend me because I'm a female. The team I raid with invites me because I'm a good player, not out of charity because I'm a chick. I do, however, notice that male players treat me differently, at least at first. Once we get to know each other, I'm just like anyone else, except it's a lot more fun to make sandwich jokes around me. Doesn't bother me, it's all in good fun. They do get weird when I play with my husband, though. Afraid to make those kitchen jokes with him around.

          • Im sorry you wasted time posting here. I hope you have thick skin and arent still in high school or anything. If so, just realize that not all guys are like this, just the ones who play video games for 8 hours a day, and even still there are some of those who know how to respect a lady.

            • Sorry you're getting flamed, but that's the way of these boards. Especially if you're a girl you become a target because a lot of people don't understand yet how to deal with the opposite sex. Good luck to you.

            • 28. Always question a person's gender - just in case it's really a man. 28.5. If it TRULY is a girl, then this is an INCEPTION!!! Only way out is to die, so look at Chuck Norris the wrong way. 29. On the internet, all girls are men, and all kids are undercover FBI agents or Perverted Justice Decoys. 30. There are NO girls on the internet. 30.1. Rule 30 only applies to the deep internet. 30.2. If girls are found on the deep internet, CODE RED, RED ALERT, ALL SYSTEMS BREACHED! 30.5 Vagina's are penis's in a girl's body. No Exceptions. 31. TITS or GTFO - the choice is yours.

              • Two married women to each other found me, a male and we raided and burned the tower to the ground for months. I actually prefer to play with females, they just make the game more interesting.. Sure beats playing with kids that sit and sing the whole time..

                • I've never played with a girl, but if I did and they weren't good it wouldn't be because they're a girl. Cause there's quite a bit of guys I play with who suck. But otherwise I don't really care if I'm playing with a girl, even in a raid. As long as you can not die and help us beat it then you're good with me.

God I've never heard such rage :O and I know them in real life to. When I see them I wonder how all that rage could come from such a petite person

I must admit i've only ever played with a handful of female players so far. Each have been extremely competent (more so than my scrubby ass!) and each has been the result of a completely non-gender bias match make or LFG.

Keep in mind these boys don't have to face you in real life so now there is no consequence of their actions. Boys + no consequence for actions= complete idiots If it makes you feel better to be treated equally I will do my part..... You are a dirty, filthy , casual scrub who needs to Git gud. With stats like yours I would blah blah blah....
there you go, equal now
• I actually love to play with girls, but not for the reasons you'd expect- I find that in most online games, most of the guys are dickwads who have more talk than skill. The girls however, have all been very friendly, and are actually good because they have someone to prove wrong. Just my two cents.
