Anyone think pulse rifles still suck?
Every pulse rifle I have ever gotten sucked, then bungie improved them and I bought red death again only to find that pulse rifles still suck!
Does anyone else feel this way?
Edit 1 - I think exotic pulse rifles are okay-ish anything else just doesn't do enough for me

2 RepliesI've been using pulse rifles since before they were cool lol. Jk but for real time on target was my first legendary primary and it's still my go to primary. PvE and PvP, I tor it up before and I tear it up now.

I find it also has a very consistent burst pattern that gets headshots easily enough. It's really strong in PvE as well, it's unbelievably helpful in the Raid when you can't regenerate health any other way. The only thing people can't seem to get over is the type of sight they gave it, but it could be a lot worse. Three Little Words is also really good for Crucible, but to be honest in PvE most people don't use Pulse Rifles. They generally don't have much impact and/or the magazine size is terrible, which I think is because they took into consideration how much easier headshots come on a burst fire weapon. To give us just as many shots as an Auto Rifle would be a bit too raw, in my opinion.

The red death I'm iffy, I love the gun but it's not as useful as I'd want it to be, yea it heals but it barely does anything to ultrasound and that's where I'm like Edinburgh maybe not this weapon

Three little words from the crucible vendor is even better than rd. Strangers rifle is pretty powerful too. No they dont suck anylonger

7 RepliesI love how people say pulse rifles take skill. No. U aim for the head. There u go. They still do lousy damage. Now a weapon that takes skill is The Last Word. U try to hipfire headshot fast moving targets without spraying. But god damn is it not rewarding. That's skill.

2 RepliesI wouldn't say they suck they are still effective, but I don't like using them. They aren't a fun weapon to use they are tiresome and a hassle. I only use it because since the buff they are the most effective.

Edited by Nkarii: 3/15/2015 8:39:42 PMI don't play PVP but from my PVE experiences post patch with Bad JuJu, Red Death, and Oversoul Edict, they still play the same. They'll melt the weaker enemies (shanks, thralls, dregs) with ease but they still, in my opinion, take too many bursts to take down tougher enemies. I bought Red Death but I don't see my self using it outside certain situations. There's just better options than pulse rifles. Edit* I think they're definitely better than they used to be, but still not good enough to be used over most primaries.

Tryout a Three Little Words if ya get a chance. That weapon might change your mind. They do take a bit more skill to make sure all 3 rounds hit their target tho. They've become pretty respectable I think.

2 RepliesLol just because bungie buffed the damage doesnt mean your going to be good with them. Pulse rifles especially take more practice and skill to use.

Depends what you use... Like any weapon. There are pulse rifles that will melt f***ing faces and they have since before the patch.

I liked them before the update because my first legendary was "time on target" pulse rifle so I used them a lot. The update was a bonus.

Edited by BlindLuck: 3/15/2015 8:14:11 PMYou have to learn how to use it. I use 123 syzygy I believe it's called, with a radar perk and "full auto" perk. Two of the lousiest perks in the game in my opinion, but it's ROF, impact and ammo have honestly made me like it more than a vanguard pulse rifle I just got with somewhat better perks. Just practice practice practice. Of you want to be a better pulser at pvp hit up pace and just down some enemies for a bit. Mindless fun, maybe kill a few bounties along the way. Hope you get well acquainted! Pulse rifles are pretty fun :)

1 ReplyRed death is a tough pulse rifle to get use to. Try the oversoul. But in all reality pulse rifles burn ammo quick. If you two hit kill something the third shot is a wasted shot. My only problem with pulse rifles.
