In terms of actually EARNING things it goes 1) Xur 2) RNG With Xur you are actually working towards a goal through a series of specific activities to get something specific With RNG you are hoping to god in heaven that you get lucky in the course of a series of random activities in order to get a shadow of a hope at anything that is worth a damn.

1 ReplyBeating crota, aetheon, and nightfalls are earning the chance at a good weapon. You beat them enough, your chances increase. Xur is based on doing weeklies and accumulating strange coins by playing the game. I say strange coins are bungies form of payment every week by playing, that you can spend on xur. Both are earning. But for some randy to go quad neg in crucible with 60 hours of game play and get a ghorn. That is just blind luck.
