Unless I'm missing something, hawkmoon just has an improved version of luck in the chamber. So why do people say it's good? Yeah, it looks cool, but the rng in this game only screws people over. Am I missing something that would make it actually useful?

I prefer Hawkmoon over Thorn, I really do. Just feels right and I feel can consistently get more headshots over Thorn. Add to the fact of never knowing when you can one shot somebody makes it extra special. Hawkmoon is the only weapon in Destiny that sounds and feels like a real gun, to me anyways.

extremely good range, very high impact to begin with and then the possibility of luck in the chamber * 3 on a single bullet == one hit kill on anything. In PvE with a gunslinger the thing absolutely wrecks. I have an 84% precision kill percentage with hawkmoon, my highest by far.

A buddy of mine has it and I am not sure if he uses it to full potential but he said even though the perks arent great it hits like a mac truck. Just his 2 cents.
-
Cuz im good ^_^
-
It's a god damn war machine. It's like a mini sniper rifle
-
9 RepliesIt's overrated. Thorn is better. I have three of each and hardly use Hawkmoon. I've been trying lately on my hunter but just don't like it.
-
Have you shot it?

Edited by DaComeBackKid: 3/16/2015 7:30:45 AM13 bullet handcannon with ridiculous range and consistent two shots with chance to one shot? -blam!-ing terrible can't even believe it's exotic
-
2 RepliesBeacause it's the only handcannon that isn't a crutch for bad players. And generally it's just a great handcannon with a cool affect.
-
all around great weapon, super strong and those three lucky ones hit hard in crucible but its really just because of how beautiful it is <3 ____ <3
-
It's so good because it boasts already incredible impact, and beast range and accuracy, clip size, fire rate, etc... What makes the perks so good is that luck in the chamber can stack with its other perk on one shot giving you some serious firepower, usually a one-two shot kill. Without the perks the gun by itself is jus a very powerful and balanced gun, some would argue too strong.

The range and impact with 13 in the mag. Personally I love the sights more than anything else, really easy to get crits. ....and the sound
-
Because it's rare. If it was obtainable through xur no one would be surprised if they saw you carrying it.
-
Aesthetically beautiful And since there's those 3 additional damage shots there's a chance you can two shot Of course thorn is there so you can decide which is best kek
-
The point if the weapon is that it is supposed to feel "right" to shoot (I don't have it but fron what I've heard it's true)
-
3 shots do extra damage. Hammer forged perk. And you can 2-3 shot someone.
-
It's a 13 round hand cannon with 3 rounds that do bonus damage, plus Hammer Forged for improved range and accuracy. Pretty obvious why it's great.
-
I said the same thing. It has 3 random bullets that deal bonus damage and the range is good and has high impact. I still don't feel it's exotic worthy just based off the perks. I think it should be labeled a legendary. But ps4 fanboys will argue otherwise all day.

Hawk moon is only considered good because of its luck in the chamber stuff
-
Honestly thorn is more useful. It's a garenteed two shot kill to the head and it does more damage per body shot then hawkmoon if you count the dot
-
Do you have it? The thing is a monster.

It's just genuinely fun to use, and i find I am able to get kills very easily with it in pve and pvp

1 ReplyThe stats are above average for the archetype, the perks are simple but powerful, giving it a higher average DPS than most Hand Cannons, the gun itself looks great, has good sights and it sounds cool. Other than that, nothing special.
