Bungie, Easiest way to fix players bailing on strikes

Continuous play bonus. Example: Get a 50% rep bonus for every consecutive strike played. Max bonus of 200%. So only takes 4 (after your first) games to get full bonus and then every strike you get 75 rep (90 if you did nightfall). Can make it such that getting disconnected due to an error will not remove your bonus for X period of time (say like 30 minutes). So if you get disconnected you can hop back on but you cannot force an error and then come back the next day with your +200% bonus. This would be a huge boost to players who are trying to up their rep for shaders while also giving people an incentive to play every strike. It will also help increase the rewards by increasing the speed you lvl up factions. Edit: love the responses guys keep them coming. My personal opinion is rewarding players gets you better results than punishing players as punishments just lead to gamers not bothering to play at all. Edit2: For those saying the pole is bias. I was not attempting to create a pole asking people if they want rewards or punishments. But rather wanting to see peoples thoughts on this specific idea. If you want rewards but dont like this option the "I do not care" button was placed for you.

  • Very good idea, but like people say, the AFKers will take advantage of it. I would add: "To enable these bonuses, players will need to have either X kills, X assists, or a sum total of x kills and assists." This would at least stall the AFKing to a point. (numbers would need to be adjusted per strike due to people skipping adds that don't need to be killed.)

  • Just have a vote to kick option for people that afk. Then make it easier to be matched up with people after people drop. A bonus of rep would be nice for consecutive strike completions. Maybe 5%@3, 10%@6, 15%@9. Max it at 15%

        I don't really have issues with quitters in strikes... but raids, this is a huge problem. I support punishments for people bailing on raids.. I say can't queue into coop/PvP events for 1 hour/30 min So you drop out of VoG.... you can't join another for at least an hour or 30 min. Options to get out can be... vote dismiss/ request dismiss. So you can request to leave your party, and you can vote to kick. A VoG hard run shouldn't take me 6 hours because i can't keep 6 people around long enough to complete it. Here was my first attempt. Got to oracles someone says "Hey pass me lead, because blah blah blah" Seems legit I pass lead. we make a few more attempts, new party leader gets pissed takes us back to orbit, everyone leaves. grrrreeeaaaattt. back to the app for a couple of hours to get more people while doing dailies/weeklies/strike playlist. Start again (fresh this time to help someone out, no problem there) then went through party turn over the rest of the game... I started this process at about 8pm... finally killed Aetheon around 2am.. (all i got for the trouble was an aspect of glass, and luckily I got the fate bringer as well) This is a huge problem. I have a hard enough time getting 5 people to try it on hard, can't ever get a static group together, even harder time to get people to stay for a completion. So instead of automating the matchmaking with randoms... i have to manually hunt down randoms, and i still have the problems that finding them myself was supposed to fix... which would be a more dedicated group with people won't just quit to do something else. The only trick is to get the game to matchmake you based on check points. Having match making in this could make it more difficult to clear... BUT easier to keep a fireteam

        • IMHO the best way to fix strikes and may even work for RAIDS is to use the current profile status set to public - if I go to do a strike or raid then get matched up with others set to public, or they get matched up with me Set to Friends only - I get matched only with friends who are online doing the same thing Invite only - Sorry I just opted out of being paired with someone time to solo Just my opinion

        • This is retarded, a 200% rep increase is waaaaaay too much and Bungie would never implement this as an update. What they should do is if you hold Y/Triangle to go orbit, you should be stopped from doing strikes for one hour as a punishment, players who lose connection will not be punished as they did not hold the orbit button for a certain amount of time. Example, lets just say it takes 5 seconds of the button hold to go orbit, 5 seconds of the same button press will ban you from strikes for an hour if the button press was during a strike. 200% rep? Thats too much, that is double rep. That is basically a bounty completion for each strike and people will be hoarding packages, it sounds good to me but... Bungie would never do that.

          • Rep in this game is a joke, do I wanna go grind out strikes with random that will do nothing and just make it harder for me.... Nah I'll just go find some patrol missions, gives me exactly same amount of rep if I find I kill target..... 50 rep for strikes would be good, since a lot of effort goes into it, and with a 200% boost I would definetly grind out strikes for hours to gain more useless shards and energies from my faction packages......

              • That's a little extreme. The problem is, it can't be a punishment. What do you do if you are the only one playing and the other 2 people are afk? Try and waste your time soloing? Leave and be punished? It won't work.

                    • No this is BS. You want a fix? Let me select a strike of my choosing and up the level just like a mission. Sorry but not every player enjoys every strike. Plus there times, like last night....having just done archon priest 6 times (NFs and weeklies) then it shows in our rotation....nope done no thank you. I mean really, your randoms leave....orbit and relaunch. It's not that major of a freaking issue.

                      • I say after 3 mins of a player being afk (no damage output, no movement detection, no receiving damage) you can open your "ghost menu" and select the player and push "RB" or "R1" to start a vote to kick the player

                        • Some people already feel like the game punishes them by repeating strikes and not rewarding them for their continual play. I stopped playing Halo because of loosing good rep and earning bad rep due to a poor connection. So yes let's do this in destiny too, but also make a pvp mode where you can take all of my gear too. I can come join your session and you can shoot me with all he best weapons in the game and take my crap that's probably just shards to you anyway. Personally, I like the fact that "GashGrabrr435" is able to quit out, I stopped reviving him 2 Omniguls ago anyway. I got the feeling he didn't like getting paired with chicks since he kept running ahead and never revived us.

                            • I agree that rewarding would be great, but do not think that this big a rep bonus is the way to go, rep farming would be crazy out of control (although in reality I would love that)

                                  • I like this idea. I think Bungie needs to reward us for continuing strikes. Don't punish players for leaving strikes, incentivise them to continue playing. I like the idea that the more consecutive strikes you do the more rep you get. So even if the same map pops up twice or more, or a map that you dont like you might be more inclined to stick around to not loose your bonus.

                                  • What if, there was like a 15 min (Idk how long exactly) cool down between starting a strike. For example, say you start up a ROC and leave right when you spawn. Then, you can't start another strike for another 15 min. But, if you play through, the timer would be running through the strike, so by the time you finish, you can go start a new one.

                                    • Or do it like GTA V . The bad player lobby or whatever it's called. When you level during a job an X amount of times then you get put in a "bad" lobby for a limited time. If this was implemented in Destiny e.g if you leave strikes then you can't matchmake for an x amount of time. If you get me drift

                                      • The disconnect thing is illogical. If someone forcefully disconnected, they would get back on in half an hour. Fix that logic and then I'll agree with this.
