I just came by my new aquired Grimoire Card of Saturn, which said the Following:
''Out beyond the Reef its rings shine. Whatever was known of it in the Golden Age is long forgotten, but more ancient truth remains: Saturn has dozens of moons, including the mighty Titan, a world larger than Mercury.
A Guardian's ship might, in theory, reach Saturn, especially if supported by a larger vessel and good navigational data. But the hazards of the Reef and the Deep Black beyond threaten to devour anyone who makes the attempt.''
Since this concerns crossing problems through The Reef, and since we're gonna have a new social hub in The Reef (this has been leeked, and confirmed, for as far as i've seen), I think (and really hope) we might assume that Saturn will become available as a new explorable planet, after The House of Wolves!
What do you think? Are we on to something here?
I'll make a poll out of it!
Edit: They give some massive hints about Jupiter as well, by the way:
''Lord of worlds, massive Jupiter and its moons must have been a cornerstone of Golden Age civilization. But the nature and extent of human presence there is now unknown. Old records refer to cities in ice and world-spanning oceans, but perhaps this is only poetry.''
Edit2: Forgot about something else, on the topic of explorable areas:
When the time is ripe, we'll probably get acces to The City as well. in the current way of making explorations possible, with an open world filled with groups of ads. I really wonder what that's gonna look like in the City. I think it's the perfect opportunitie for Bungie to show some real creativity! i wouldn't be surprised if the last raid of the entire franchise would take place in The City. But that's just speculating ofcourse.

2 RepliesWhat if instead of having a set destination for raids, we would have to go in patrol and search for it? Like there would be an enemy signifying how close we were getting? Good? Bad?

It's actually Mercury.
-
I reckon that Venus, Mars, Moon end Mercury have been terraformed by the Traveller, but I'm not sure about Saturn and other has planets. I mean, they are gas planets. There is no way to terraform them. Venus is still possible, despite its temperature, like Mercury, cause they are solid. The solid part of has planets it so deep that you would be simply destroyed by pressure. This doesn't mean that we won't be able to visit the moons of the gas planets, like Europa, Titan, Ganimede, Enceladus, Io, Triton and so on.

City raid sounds -blam!-ing awesome.
-
Its never coming.
-
6 RepliesSeriously; screw Saturn. Fields of Glass or Old Chicago would be WAY cooler.
-
I'm just hoping for epic story missions in the reef. Epic parkour through the wreckage while fighting off (some type of enemy)
-
2 RepliesI guess the moons will be playable but not the planet, that'd be 14 new playable area! Accessible thru the Reef

The leaked roadmap from a while back listed 1 new patrol with comet, then nothing through Forge of Gods. That 1 new patrol *could* be a new planet, assuming it hasn't been scrapped, or it could be another patrol on an existing planet (such as Old Chicago we allegedly heard about pre-release) Anything else before that is likely to be nothing more than a PvP map, like the Burning Shrine on Mercury. I've speculated for a while that the expansions are supposed to literally expand our reach into the galaxy as we push the darkness back, so what you're saying about the reef would make sense in adding it as a launching point to go beyond (once we've won over the queen/awoken in HoW, or something like that)

I think Mercury has better odds of seeing a release seeing as we already have a multiplayer map there. Saturn sounds like it has some story behind it, like something has to lead up to it. Seeing as Destiny lacks much story at the moment, it could take a while to see Saturn appear. Based on that Grimoire i feel that we will have to get our hands on a bigger ship or make an armada to make it there. Thats something for an actual expansion or a whole new game entirely <.<

Edited by Mok: 4/9/2015 1:11:05 PMLook at the Grimoire Card, "Ghost Fragment: Saturn, Dreams of Alpha Lupi." I think Saturn will be part of the Comet expansion: "Distant moons slide past - icy little comets enslaved by a splendid master."

1 ReplyAll I want is to explore uranus. Slowly at first, picking up speed the further I get in. By the end of my rampage through Uranus, it would be nothing more than a mere shell of its former self.
-
5 RepliesI laugh everytime I see these posts With the exception of the dwarf planet Pluto all planets past the asteroid belt are gas giants that means they are NOT solid ground like earth you could literally fall through them until you hit it's liquid center therefore they could not be playable
-
2 RepliesI strongly believe the Vex DLC is when we will get Mercury, we already know they've infested that planet.
-
5 RepliesLooking at The Reef on the map right now, it appears there is room for one large area that may be visited. Obviously this can change with an update, but it appears only one space is reserved. I wish the cutsceen was replayable....

a hive ship will be the next playable are

1 ReplyThe Reef is where the new tower will be in HoW.
-
4 RepliesI heard that Mercury is where the Reef is.
-
3 RepliesSaturn will probably be apart of comet expansion.
-
The last part you mention, about the last raid taking place in the City. Could be that the darkness is defeated and so all these war torn Guardians that no nothing except destruction turn on each other aka 'Faction Wars'. Could be a interesting idea. As for your poll, I think we will not be playing on/around Saturn or Juipter until Destiny 2. Think Commet will be based closer to home.

1 ReplyI'm still thinking how they would do this. Both a gas planets, meaning if you were to jump onto the "surface" of each planet, you'd reach the core and burn. Would we have some sort of cities on the rings of each planet? Or maybe on the planets' moons.

1 ReplyNext is ur anus

1 ReplyOk, so if you read the grimoire it says that the reef is the farthest place that you can go to without getting consumed by the darkness. The reef is the asteroid belt, so you can't go to Saturn.
-
1 ReplyI remember seeing this in one of MoreConsoles videos. It must've been a reveal trailer or something. Could someone reply to bookmark this for later?

Read anything about the Asteroid Belt in the grimoire.
