I have an idea to have a defensive mission. It Could be based on defending the tower from attacks or outposts on other planets. In a 1-6 man fireteam, with match making. Players will be stationed in the city or outposts defending it from attacking enemies. Have the enemies try to take control of 3 zones around the outposts and or cities and if they capture all zones or kill all guardians then its game over. For guardians to win they most Kill all enemies and the boss In addition to being a playlist it could be have a weekly defensive mission and daily defensive missions.
Wave example.
1. 200, level 20 enemies will spawn
2. 100 level 20 majors will spawn
3. 200 Level 24 Enemies will spawn
4. 100 level 24 majors will spawn
5. 1 Level 28 Boss will spawn, with a horde of 100 level 26 enemies
During boss rounds, players don't have to defend zones.
-This is just a concept, it would be different based on the level of hardness you want the defensive strike to be.
Could use Crucible battlefields just the way they are. Enemies would spawn around the battlefields and go to attack the zones and find players.
Not only could this be a weekly Defensive mission, this could be a defensive playlist kinda like the roc playlist.
Add your ideas and opinions, and lets try to get this put into the game.
EDIT 1: Additional Ideas
Ammo boxes would spawn at beginning of each wave. Ammo Synthesis's can be used. Revives available on all missions, but no respawn. Health does regenerate as normal.
Rewards could be based on performance and for every round the players get through the rewards are likely to be better.
An idea for a possible package if this was added would be to allow players to equip all exotics for selected special missions, being in the tower and going on patrol. Being able to equip all and only being able to enter certain missions like that would add a little more fun to the game and allow players to use the exotics we have sitting in our vaults that are collecting dust. 3 exotic weapons and 4 exotic armor. If a player tries to enter another mission that permits only 1 then they will get a message saying to remove exotics.
If the idea above is added, I suggest a level 34 or 35 defensive mission is added that would allow all exotics to be used that would give us just an option to have fun with all exotics equipped and still have a challenging mission. Having a mission like this would just be a mission about having fun with whatever gear we want.

Level 18 Mission: Munifex
Level 22 Mission: Evocati
Level 26 Mission: Sagittarii
Level 30 Mission: Immunes
Level 32 Mission: Centurions
Level 34 or 35 Mission: Gladiator (The all exotics mission)
(Names are from Roman Army ranks, except for Gladiator)
Each victory gives the Colosseum marks, up to 100 per week.
Vendors could offer legendary gear that changes weekly with the resets.
Vendors could offer these that don't change weekly: Exchange 10 marks for 20 Hadronic essence, 20 Plasteel plating or 20 sapphire wire, 20 Common ammo synthesis for 10 marks, 10 Special synthesis for 10 marks and 5 heavy for 10 marks and exotic shaders that only work when all exotics are equipped. Another possible vendor item could be the the Exotic question mark engram for 200 marks, where you will receive 1 random exotic engram that could be a Helmet, Glove, Chest, Boots, Primary, Special or Heavy. And you can earn 100 a week like the other two marks. Weapons engrams would be less likely to drop as often as Armor engrams.
EDIT 3: Change to waves and how zone control would work.
I changed the wave idea around a little bit.
How zone control will work:
-When enemies control zones
0 zones enemies deal normal damage
1 zone, enemies deal more damage
2 zones, enemies have increased movement speed
3 zones, players have 30 seconds to capture a zone or they lose the match.
-When player control zones
0 zones, 30 Seconds to capture a zone or players lose
1 zone, Increased capture speed
2 zones, Increased move speed
3 zones, Increased damage
During each round players will see how many enemies are remaining.
During the boss round, zones don't need to be defended.
EDIT 4: Alternative idea.
Players are placed in the PvP maps and fight 1 round, and that one round is a boss round. The boss round still has zones to control and keep out of enemy hands. A random boss will spawn with hordes of enemies that attack you. Like a PvP match you have X amount of time to kill the boss or you loose. Once the boss is dead, the mission ends.
