Seriously Bungie, why is it that Hand guns and Revolvers are used as a Primary weapon in the game? In the midst of a war which weapon would you turn to most? An Assault Rifle, or a little Handgun? They're not bad, but really I prefer having The Last Word or Red Hand IX as a Secondary weapon rather than a Primary it's just common sense. If your Primary weapon is out of ammo and you still got mother-blam!-ers coming at you, you can switch to your handgun, it's faster than having to reload (usually).

The wanted to evoke the feeling of being an Old West gunfighter instead of a modern soldier.
-
I wouldn't mind an exotic hand cannon that equips to the secondary slot, it could have semi auto fire and clip fed magazine.
-
Sniper kinda seems like a heavy. I have rocket launchers that damage about as much as snipers do
-
They'd need to seriously buff HC's if they went into the special slot. They'd get outperformed by all the special weapons. Hand Cannons are my primary weapon.
-
Easy. Because all secondary weapons have the ability to one hit kill. Handcannon do not.
-
It's cause they wanted to bring a little flavor of the old West, for all those pistol petes out there.
-
I personally love them as primary's :) I think they're fun to use, and they feel powerful and make big noises ^_^

3 RepliesTo be honest, if I ran out of ammo in my Primary and needed to switch to my special, I'd rather whip out a shotgun than a weenie hand cannon. But to answer your point, the reason why they didn't add hand cannons to the Special slot is because they aren't special. Fusion Rifles are special because they need to charge up. Sniper rifles are special because they hardly have any damage drop off. Shotguns are special because they would be OP in Crucible if they were primary.

Have really looked at hand canons at all??? They're canons not pistols, last word is huge. They're called hand canons for a reason + it's a video game why not???
-
Because this is a video game.

Edited by HypobaricPiano: 3/14/2015 5:24:11 AM"A little handgun" Have you seen the size of The Last Word? That thing looks like its bullets could shred a tanks armour.
-
Have you ever seen someone carrying around a Handcannon that does void damage IRL?
-
They were originally, but they mesh better with the primary weapon archetype.
-
Because it's not a side arm. It's not a pistol It's a mofo hand "cannon"
-
Its not the size of the ocean it's the motion of the waves
-
I think their should be an exotic hand cannon that is secondary
-
When I pick up my fatebringer and shoot a round into the head, and that enemy explodes and kills/injures other enemies around it?....
-
We don't have secondary weapons in destiny, were have special.
-
I guarantee that you'd never use a hand cannon in a secondary slot, it's like a .500 smith and Wesson. You can run into a gunfight with that shit
-
True I would liken to use a hand Cannon and a assault rifle or something it gets annoying
-
3 RepliesBecause they are hand "cannons", not hand "guns".

Edited by Laconic Rookie: 3/13/2015 11:23:24 AMThe other stupid think is that hand cannons do so much more per shot than a rifle which is screwed up.
-
6 RepliesPleanty of games treat hand guns as primary weapons. This isn't CoD stop trying to make it a clone.
-
I know that there are going to be a lot of negative comments to this, but I think the "cannon" part in hand cannon should be a real cannon. As strong as they are, they have oversized bullets and stuff... I think we should keep them in the primary slot.
-
They're not pistols they're cannons. I'd take my trusty Fatebringer or an AR any day.
-
This is a game, and at this game hand guns are hand CANNONS.
