How to be a GOOD Swordbearer on Crotas End... (Bladedancer Hunter)

So you want to be a swordbearer but have not done it before? Well first off you need to know what to do. When running the sword you want to make sure you have your sub class set to BLADEDANCER and you want the upgrades ESCAPE ARTIST, STALKER, and VANISH. Second make sure you are 32 for Hard and atleast 31 for Normal. When you first start out on Crota and kill off all the enemies on the right side and left side make sure you get the swordbearer down as fast as possible. Once you have picked up the sword go to either the left or right side rocks and crouch and go invisible. Now is when you have to time everything. Right before you go invisible you want to tell your other members in the raid to shoot. Once they start shooting you should be turning invisible and already be jumping up to where crota is. Once you are beside crota and he is kneeled that is when you want to do your damage. I do R2 R2 R2 R2 so I get 4 slams on him but other people prefer doing combos such as R1 R2 R2 R2 R1 which is a slash then 4 slams. But if you are just starting out just start with 3 slams and then work your way up to 4 or using combos. Now once you get your damage in as swordbearer here is another tricky part. You want to DROP the sword using Trianlge for PS4 or Y on Xbox. Then you want to BLINK STRIKE and go invisible when Crota gets up you should be invisible and he will not agro onto you if you have done this part right. Now you are beside him and he is orange with a shield. You want to pick up the sword and get ready for your other raid members to take him down again. By the time he stands up to when you can take him down again is approxametly 3 seconds. So you wat to do the previous step fast and efficient so you can have enough time to pick up the sword to start slamming Crota again. Once crota goes down the second time and you do your damage to him you want to get out of there. The best way (depending where on the platform you are) is to go off one of the sides or the middle and I prefer to jump and slash my way to the middle glass. When you get to the middle glass after slashing your way over face the building where the crystal is and look to your right. There is a corner you can jump up at with ALL classes. Now when you make it back up to the glass you have 2 choices you can either sit on the opposite side of the glass from where Crota is or run back inside. I prefer just sitting in the glass until my invisiblility pops again then I run back inside. Now from this point you just repeat the steps until you have killed Crota. Now what you need VANISH for is say you kill the swordbearer and he is on one of the sides or something you use your Super and slash to the sword and then hit R2 once you are on the ground and go invisible so that way when you pick up the sword you can tell your raid members to shoot while you are jumping up onto the rock. Then once they are shooting you should still be invisible while you just landed onto the rock so jump up and by the time you reach Crota your members should have him down and your invisible will go off. IF THIS ISN'T TIMED RIGHT YOU MIGHT GET KILLED BY CROTA! Now another use of the VANISH upgrade is when you get the swordbearer down you can go invisble before you grab the sword so that way if there is cursed thrall they dont exploid when you pick up the sword. Also this method my also save you from getting destroyed from thrall if you are on Hard mode or even Normal mode. Also a key note in swordbearing is Crota one Hard takes 15 slams to go enraged so count your swords each time. I like to do 8 in the first sword then 3 and 3 on the second sword. Then after Ogres I hit him atleast 3 or 4 times in the first part then when he goes enraged I just slam until he is dead. Remeber to tell your memebers if they dont know yet to concentrate on Crota and NOT the oversoul! Just Practice and find out how many slams you are comfortable with and don't rush your first time doing it. Rushing will usually cause a wipe and you don't want that. Also your first few time running the sword make sure you have friends or a group of people that don't mind you trying it a few times or even if you are lucky even killing Crota. I was lucky and got the hang of it pretty fast I have been doing it for about a week now and have killed Crota more times on Hard than I have Normal. Post your Combos you like doing on Crota in the comments. Also if you have ANY tips for New Swordbearers feel free to post them below aswell!! I hope this helps some people out! Edit #1: SHADOWJACK is really good to have also!!! Edit #2: Wow! 52 up votes! Thank You Guys!!

 • Good advice. I do mostly the same thing, except i rather have have Razor's Edge instead of Vanish. I use it in the beginning to kill the acolytes through one of the shields before they open up, to have a couple of orbs laying around and less chances of getting hit in the beginning. If there is no one to shoot at you, no need to regain life. I have a friend that does the same on the other side, so we only have to deal with 2-4 acolytes and the 4 knights. Also, after the 2nd sword on hard, just when i enter the ogre room I use the special again and kill thralls, that way i clear the way for my teammates and create more orbs for them.
