- I kind of see where destiny's RNG loot system is going. It's a neat experiment and it works better then I would have thought if you sat down and explained it to me.
That whole..you never know what your going to get- so you gotta keep pushing hard..thing.
It does solve a lot of the issue when it comes to farming items and questing top tier equipment. Kinda makes looking for equipment .. a thing of the past.
Sure you can have your wishlist. . But now.. you have to adapt to what you are issued.
It's an interesting setup.
Other games use a level requirement on items for this effect-
But then most people just grind for the items.. then are unhappy because of having to grind so much.
Here the grind is different. ..
But are the goals the same?

RNG is okay for certain game modes. Others should be set loot
-
I like a combination of both. RNG is mostly fun, until you have really worked your arse off and got a real piece of junk or shards as a reward. But it keeps things interesting. The Iron Banner gives you the opportunity to go after fixed rewards. I like this as well. You know what you are working for. The twist is you can gamble a bit and risk motes of light to get a better roll (or run out and have crap perks until the next IB).

Forza has a good thing going -Random reward drops for various milestones or events -If you don't get what you want you can grind your way to it (not hope some shady vendor shows up with it someday) At least the content you paid for is available guaranteed, even if it can be a grind Also has a Car Club (clan) garage where you can save a copy of your cars that can be checked out and used (not modified) by any other member of the club. (think clan vault)

2 RepliesRNG is great when you first start as you can get some awesome stuff early on. A pain later when you only have 1 exotic item left to get and you know it might be 1 more raid or 100.
-
Yes and no
-
No. I want set loot
-
If it was set loot, it should be 2-3 item drops per boss/chest and everyone rolls for it including shards.
-
I like how borderlands has a certain boss for each legendary (exotic item), but any boss can drop anything for you.
-
I prefer a mix of both, which is what destiny kind of achieves in a way Most exotics: random drop or Xur And then there are bounties, where you KNOW what you're getting
-
The queen event had a set loot after you did a mission for her. The reward guaranteed a legendary weapon/armor from the queen.
-
i like what dragon ball xenoverse has done, it has set loot for each PQ. but it is random at wheather you get it or not
-
I would like to know that my efforts would be rewarded but I don't want to know what I'll get, so I guess a combo of both.
-
1 ReplyI dunno maybe a mix of both? I'd defiantly like to see an engram pinata out of bosses so they are a little more satisfying to kill, but at the same time that might require adding a lot more items cause I seem to get the same things over and over when I decrypt.

2 RepliesWe need more items! I do believe they misjudged the scope of their on game.
-
If they made all exotics bounties then I would like it more.
-
Ring makes it addictive
-
I think set loot would be better for destiny if there was more content, but as it stands now, rng is the only way to keep people playing.
-
-
I like the RNG. It is a mean son of a bitch but when you get something you don't have it makes all the pain go away.
-
I like a balance. I don't think it would be good of the best weapons are earn-able, the. Everyone would have them. I also don't think pure rng is good either. Maybe just balance stuff better so there is no one gun everyone wants and lives and make more of the useless ones good. Then people would be less disappointed that they didn't have gjallarhorn, because their hard light is good also suddenly.

Edited by TheFrozenInferno: 3/26/2015 11:47:47 PMI like a balance between the two, like knowing raid weapons drop from certain parts of the raid and therefor you know the exact place to get them, yet still random so you don't get one every single time.

3 RepliesI feel like we could have a happy balance, where you can play the game and get what it gives you, or take exotic bounties from Xur/the gunsmith, and work towards a specific one. I found the exotic bounties to be a pretty good idea, even if some of the steps were a bit asinine. You can actually feel like you're making progress towards the gun you want. Get the gun you want, and do whatever you want for whatever random stuff the game gives you, takes a little bitterness out of not getting that one gun.
