Question About The Lore
Is Oryx a knight? I don't know if anyone will know this but what exactly is Oryx? Is he a knight like Crota or a Wizard perhaps?

He is most likely nothing but every bring horrible. The hive pantheon is unknown to us aside from Crota and his father. If Oryx ever appeared in the Solar System our hope of rebuilding the Golden Age would be gone and the remnants of life destroyed.

3 RepliesYou can't really say as of yet. It's likely he's something entirely new, but to assume he isn't refer to rusted lands. This card implies that wizards are actually the leaders in the Hive infrastructure, which also would make sense in explaining an asexual breeding process thanks to their experiments, as well as why Crota is the weakest of his siblings. This would actually make Oryx a she, and I'm terrified at what she'll bring to the table. Don't belittle Crota just because we could beat him, if you didn't realize we had to take out his will might eyes fist and even his soul! All we fight in CE is the living husk of his body, or his "presence".

By the in-game statements your ghost makes, it is unclear whether or not Oryx is worshipped as their king or their god. Either way, he's the ruler of the Hive in some form, and I would hope if we ever saw him he would be a unique model and not just a re-skinned knight like Crota was.

6 RepliesDoes it ever say specifically in game or grimoire that Oryx is male? The wizards are female and use the masculine title. Maybe the Hive's "king" is actually a "queen" and is an oversized wizard

1 ReplyOryx is not specified as being a living physical thing.I would think of oryx as being a big powerful force. When your ghosts says Crota the son of oryx it's possible that oryx has many different forms Crota bing one of them and even stronger forms.

We don't know anything about him, because he predates Crota, the oldest Hive being we know.

Just speculation, but what if "son of Oryx" is a metaphor. What if Oryx is the hive name for the darkness. Crota being born of the Darkness.
