You in all honesty don't need them. I don't have a tracking rocket and I can hit Crota every time. All I do is aim at the floor and he will get caught in the blast radius almost every time and I hold 3 in the tube so if I miss I have 2 more chances and 5 more in reserve. So in my opinion tracking or proximity detonation is not needed
Edit: I'll refrase cause the way I said it didn't work. I aim at his foot and if the rocket does miss than it still hits the ground right next to him. I have never had a rocket not do damage to Crota just some don't directly hit him. And also I am not saying if I had one I wouldn't use it, cause I still really want gjallarhorn or hunger, but I haven't been lucky enough to get either so I use what I'm stuck with

Yeah I used a non-tracking RL the same way to good effect for a long time, was annoying to find groups though cause people would always ask for tracking. Only just got one with tracking recently, its so much better, heaps less to worry about, I can see the appeal, but true, its not required, just preferable.

70% of the high players are too bad to hit crota with a rl so everyone wants ppl with tracking
-
Technically you can down him with six people with no land beyonds if thats your thing.
-
I need to respond to this. 1. When you hit him straight on, it does MORE damage than the blast radius. Not a whole lot, but we are trying to get as much as possible. 2. The mother-blam!-er moves and thus there is a need for tracking!

Better safe than sorry. Also, I'd rather a direct hit than just splash damage.

3 RepliesEdited by AbbydiIlo: 3/10/2015 7:10:58 PMAll these people saying you don't NEED x y or z for the Crota raid are just relying on everyone else to have x y or z so they can justify themselves using a b or c.

YOU, may not need tracking rockets, but many players do. As a designated sword runner, there is no worse feeling than calling for DPS, jumping up, and watching 3 out of 5 rockets soar past Crotas head.
-
2 RepliesThat's cool, if you miss more than 1 rocket you're out of the fire team lol.
-
You don't need it, I've jumped up and downed him with dragons breath
-
I don't think it's too much asking for people to have tracking rockets for situations like this. Plenty of options out there.
-
1 ReplyYou don't know how many rockets I've seen miss when someone doesn't have tracking it really messes up the swordbearer and results in more wipes
-
3 Repliesyou don't even need rockets, really. i use Against all odds, 2-3 people with HMG will get him down just as fast as a rocket.
-
You said it, you miss sometimes. I understand but the fact is us experienced Crota runners have our timing down and can't depend on that. We want his shield down ASAP which is 2 ghorn on normal, 3 on hard, in order to get the max hits per run. Obviously you can use other rockets that are a guaranteed hit if you have enough people too

Edited by CJBulldogs: 3/10/2015 7:05:55 PMWhy not is the better question... I help LFGers quite frequently and everyone with a tracking launcher hits crota every time and only about 50% hit w/o tracking so why not require it? I've stood under crota and watched 3-4 glide past him so why even put that variant in there? There are so many ways of getting a tracking launcher or at least proximity that its your fault for not having one. Also the other perks that fill that slot aren't great anyway

3 RepliesIt's in the game so I use it. Why would I care to aim if the gun does it for me. This is a stupid and pointless thread.
