Apparently it's a bit deeper than "how they want us to play."
What do you think?
Edit:
Apparently I'm supposed to freak out about this thread being on trending and highest rated. To that I say--
Meh.
It's just a good discussion. That's the point of a forum.

6 RepliesThe notes at the end of the article show just how clueless the guys are at bungie. They expected players to buy better gear and for the drops to just be cherries on top? How the f*ck can that be the case when the random drops are the only way to get the best stuff from the game (sans the xur "RNG"). Level 32 gear: random drop (sans IB gear which you have to wait to arrive) Majority of exotic weapons: random drops (sans xur "RNG" and exotic bounties) Majority of exotic gear: random drops (sans xur "RNG") Raid weapons: random drops Materials: nature of obtaining them is mostly random though there are many ways to speed them up (weekly for SC, dailies and patrol for upgrades) And they have the audacity of saying that they didn't expect random drops to be as big a deal? The entire game is a freaking roll of the dice. Nobody I know is playing this game cuz the raids/nightfalls/"story" are fun, they just want to maximize their chances at obtaining a sweet exotic. In fact, most of the guys on my list are only showing up to complete the end-game activities (aka the highest chance at obtaining the best stuff). I've already limited myself to just finishing the weekly, NF, and boss section of raids (plus VoG chest). There is literally no point in grinding anything else cuz the odds are so against the player's favor. You can spend hours on the ROC with your 3 characters and still not obtain a single purple thing from doing that (other than those ships that are a color palette away from being different than one you already have and when you sell you get... oh yeah, you get nothing). Don't even get me started on PvP, where placing 1st nets you... again, nothing, and placing last gets you a gjallarhorn! Destiny, where we reward effort (not). It's like they ignorantly believe their game is something more than just a grindfest and rolling the dice for the exotic content. In a game that offers nothing else, maximizing your time spent in lucking out is the number one priority for most players (legendary/exotics per hour).
